I have hopelessly screwed up my FS files to the point where I can't be sure where the airplane folder is. Can I re-install FS9 over the existing installation or should I delete the FS9 installed first? Any advice will be appreciated. This Q has probably been asked and answered before in the forum but I can't locate it.

if you look on Disk 1 of your installation disks (explore the cd) you will see MSGAME1.CAB, and MSGAME2.CAB.  copy / paste MSGAME1.CAB to a temporary folder on your desktop.  Unzip this .cab back into your temporary folder so that you can see the contents.   Inside you will find the AIRCRAFT folder.

just copy paste it to your installation of FS9.   (you will of course need to REDOWNLOAD / REINSTALL all previously added aircraft that you had downloaded, but that is just a small price to pay than a full reinstall)

if you have a few questions, you can use thread http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1241545570 as a guide, and as always, just come back for further help.

If i were you i would reeinstal.I guess you will have loads of problems.
Then make a restore point when you have your fresh instal, and also make a image from your disk. That will prevent future mistakes.
Either way you are going to have to instal things, so do it in a fresh way.
Keep us posted Wink
