I inadvertently ordered a payware of airports designed  for FS2000-2002. CDRom. Will I damage FS2004 running this program? I have noticed many 2002 programs will work with FS9 but since this is also for 2000  so I wonder if it  might screw up my FS9.

If it is just scenery I doubt that it will damage your install, is there an updated version of the scenery you bought that is for FS9.......the reason I ask, is you need question whether or not it is a clever choice to spend money on scenery that older than the outdated game we are enjoying, if your gonna spend money updating your sim, I would strongly suggest you update, not backdate  Wink  so what scenery did you get? someone might be able to point you to something......newer, maybe even freeware.
There are so many things out there to choose from that it seems a shame to spend money on something that isnt right.......just my opinion
Cheers

ROM: As i said, I inadvertently ordered the CD (airports of N America) thinking it was for 2004. It's a minor problem since the thing cost very little but I was curious whether I should try it in FS9. I have noted posts in this forum that frequently advise one to download 2002 addons into FS9. The thing that gave me pause here is that this CD is for 2000 as well as 2002.  But thanks for the response.

ROM  Just an added note: I have been looking for prop planes in Simviation that self-install since I have hopelessly screwed up my files trying to install as the tutorial advises. My airplane folder is screwed up and another part of it I found in  a program I have never used. I am holding off  downloading freeware until I can get a tech guy to help me straighten this out. As I freely admit, I am totally hopeless with computers other than as  substitute typewriters. My degree is  in English Lit. Ask me to explain Finnegans Wake and I'm fine. But to a freebee airplane? I'm lost.  Undecided

Denis,
I've run several "FS2002" sceneries in FS9; usually, I have no trouble. Sometimes the AFCAD file is screwed up, but nothing a slew can't fix  Wink. But with your installation as messed up as you described, I'd hold off, as you are doing, on installing anything, be it something for FS9 or for FS2000. Maybe a re-install?
Hope you get it sorted out.

That's what I would do. Good luck!

BEFORE you make such haste to UNINSTALL your FS9, if you have not already installed the cd to your FS......... Install the CD to a dummy folder on your desktop so that you can see the contents.

then go look on the web to see if you can come up with any newer airports for the ones on the disk.

I was going to offer 1 particular website that had LOADS of FS9 airports and other sceneries, but unfortunately most of the links are for the defunct AVSIM.  you still might get lucky with a small handfull that are from flightsim.com or elsewhere...... so.... here it is so that you can bookmark it just in case.

I doubt that you have to re-install, unless it's doing something wrong then you should leave alone and enjoy........and hopefully you will be able to find someone who can help you figure out how to install some stuff, because fs doesn't really get fun until you start adding stuff to make it better

FYI - The Avsim library is not "defunct" - it is up and running with 85 to 90% of the files recovered succesfully.  The upload funtion is not operational as yet but will be in in the near future.
