I just did a complete reinstall of my FSX and Acceleration and now all my default planes have no glass when viewed from the outside. Occassionally when the area has to load there will be a grey area where the windshield should be, but other than that it just looks like empty space.  It is really wierd looking at the outside and seeing nothing between the air and the pilot. If anyone has a way to fix this, please share.

Make sure that your settings are turned up. If the graphics are not turned up to a certain level, the there won't be any glass. I think that it's the Special effects detail that must be turned up. Mine is set on high.

My special effects are set to high, so the problem isnt there.

Re-install. If this issue continues you will need to modify the glass as it sounds to me as if they have somehow darkened, which makes the glass appear (or dissappear) to vanish.
You can then make the glass lighter, which makes replections appear.

Yah - just open a stock plane though; i.e. the C-172 - open it's main Texture file and look for the 'reflection' texture. If it's not there, you might be able to pull it off the disks, but given the luck I've had it's probably best to just reinstall. Wink

Enable aircraft relections or something similar in the options menu?

I've already done 2 reinstalls in the past 2 days, but those didnt work. I checked the texture folders of all the default planes and there arent any files called 'reflection'. Is that the actual file name that should be in there? And if so, would there be anyone kind enough to upload them to rapidshare or something for me?

a couple of things i'd try:
*check your fsx disks, make sure they're clean from dirt
*put disk 1 in, and choose to repair files (if you've installed FSX SP2, uninstall it via control panel before doing the repair), then reinstall FSX SP1 and SP2
*reinstall your graphics drivers
*open a command prompt via start-allprograms-accessories and type sfc/ scannow (that'll scan your windows system files and make sure they're not damaged and if they are, usually repairs them)

do you have any add-on aircraft? if so are they showing glass reflections ok?

Ok, theres no dust, dirt, or scratches on my discs. I've done a third reinstall and still nothing. I also have acceleration and uninstalling and reinstalling that has no solutions. My graphics drivers are up to date and recently reinstalled.  I do have several addons installed. I've got the aerosoft beaver and the aerosoft twin otter. Both of those are fine and have thier glass. I will try the scannow and see what that does. Thanks for the help.

Something I have been thinking is that there might be a problem in one of my system files and I have been planning on doing a reformat of my C drive. That might be the solution, but that will be the last thing I try.

One thing to try is I could send you the textures I have for the default aircraft and see if they show glass on yours. Just a thought.
