I want to be able to use my wi-fi capabilities on another computer downstairs running Vista to link up with my main computer upstairs through a router to print, share files, etc.

Question is how do I do it. It is easy enough to use some type of software to do it like Network Magic but I did not buy it so I am looking for the manual way which is also the best way. My computer is running XP and my other one is running Vista.

Thanks Smiley

Set router to generate IP adresses (dhcp on)
Set both computers on ip adress by dhcp
Set both computers to the same workgroup
Tell vista to allow access to files, printer
Share one or more folders on the vista machine... make sure they are in the 'guest' or 'public' area or you wont see them

Now you should see the other machine in 'network neighbourhood' / network
