There are 2 Object Placer categories specifically regarding trees: - "Trees - Seev Kahn" and "ag_tree_lib - A Gerretsen".

Kahn's trees show the marked effects of light and shadow (dark on one side, light on the other) and appear unrealistic compared to the default trees in FS2004. And, no matter how much I try, I can't get the Gerretsen trees to appear at all.

Before I give up on RWY12's trees, Can anyone propose a fix for either or both of these categories? And if they are not fixable, is the payware EZ Scenery object placer any better?

Instead of EZ-Scenery, I would look at Instant Scenery by Flight1. Same guy wrote both, but IS is a little more advanced. There is an EZS/IS version of Arno's tree library, along with 10 (?) or more additional tree libraries for use with EZS/IS.

Instant Scenery is available in a demo, so you can try it out before you plunk down the cash.

As I recall, Arno's (ag_tree_lib) trees are single plane, 'rotate to viewer' objects. When placing the objects set the heading to 0.

Among the advantages of EZ-Scenery: The 'live view' function so you position objects while in the sim. Much easier than placing in Rwy12 and then starting the sim to see the result. Can place objects from any 'object library', default or custom, including Rwy12 libraries.

If you're considering EZ-Scenery I suggest you look at Flight 1's Instant Scenery. All the features of EZ plus a few extra, works in FS9 and FSX and is 5 bucks cheaper. Demo available, full function within 50 mi of Seattle.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

One thing about these addon trees - they don't display consistently through all seasons, e.g., believe it is only during autumn that the default trees become more "barren" while the addon ones remain in fall colours. Not a big deal but if repopulating trees in an area where scenery has been excluded, then rebuilt, these trees show up like a sore thumb against the default ones. It's actually even more pronounced in FSX as only one season of (addon) trees displays. Not dissing these trees as such bugs are apparently part of FS9/X, and not the fault of the addon trees themselves - they are really good, and essential, for anyone doing scenery mods.
