Hello Paul,
Its just the over indulgence of an old fella, the Mrs. is long gone, no I didnt do her in, she ran off with the bloke next door while I was playing with my Flt sim, and you know I do miss him !
By the way do you know anything about Vista, like changing the Display Driver, I cant believe its as easy automatic update and installation as the system, leads me to understand, Every thing else on Vista is an epic.

I've run FS9 & FSX on both 24" and 30" monitors on Vista 64 and Win7 64 with gorgeous and reliable results. If your computer is freezing, I'm more likely to suspect the graphics card, since the cpu is not necessarily working that much harder to generate the pixels. Specifically, I would look at heat issues, particularly at this time of year. Can you improve air circulation within your case?

If you have overclocked your graphics card you might want to back it off a bit. Changing'updating the graphics driver is of course high on the list of things that may improve the situation if heat is not the issue, but I'd place my bet on the graphics card heating up too much.
Happy flying.

Well if you were flying in Scotland and didnt land for a wiskey, any pc crashes. Wink
But try to see if your video is well tuned.Maybe you are demanding a bit to much of hardware.
I need to say the FS in a screen like that must be AMAZING Wink, but you need to keep more attention AROUND YOU   Wink

I have an almost identical set up. Only difference is I have the 3ghz CPU. I have the exact same amount of RAM and exact same video card outputting DVI to a 22 in monitor.

Try scaling down some of the setting like virtual cockpit and stuff you don't really notice.

My thanks to all, for answering my query, good old Simviation this is the place for humour and expert opinion. You have all given me food for thought, I suppose at the end of the day its a case of an old man getting carried away with his new toys.
I have a local IT expert who is very good, I will get him round to discuss up grades on graphics and such.
In the meantime I will just enjoy myslf and try not to push my PC too far, again many thanks to all, for your time and interest in my little problem, as far as today goes I am getting outside to enjoy this rare spell of sunshine we are having in Derbyshire.

Its always a pleasure to help, specially when all problems are solved (which they never are), and we learn with eachother.
Have fun , have one for me.
Cheers

My wife left and took the dog. Now I have an entire room dedicated to the sim with a full cockpit under construction and a projector with 100" screen.

Damn I miss that dog!
