Weird Problem... (Read 106 times)

A couple of days ago I was surfing the interwebs and the computer completely froze. No BSOD, the image just stayed the same and no matter what I pressed nothing happened. So I turn computer off at the switch, and turn it back on. It doesn't POST, the screen stays black, no beep, only the fans start up. It would turn off every 15 seconds and start up again, in a cycle. Ok, so I turned the computer off, and turned the power switch off.

Had some lunch, came back, turned power on, turned computer on, and it works. For a while - then the computer freezed like it did before. Right after, I turned on computer, it works fine, and all BIOS settings have been reset to defaults and the computer boots into Linux (boot order messed up). Works perfectly fine, restart, boot into Windows, and all is working perfectly. Turn computer off a couple hours later.

The next day I turn computer on and it wouldn't POST. Screen black, fans start, no beep, and cycled as it did before. Turned power off, tried again didn't work. Opened up case, made sure everything was seated properly. Didn't work. Reset CMOS, didn't work. Reset CMOS another 5 times, didn't work. So I decide to remove one RAM stick, and the computer starts up fine, and it showed some page indicating a previous POST error and wanted to restore a BIOS. I didn't press anything before it exited that and booted into Linux. Rebooted into Windows (boot order was messed up). Everything worked fine.

Next day I decided to put the RAM back in 'cause I wanted to try ArmA 2 demo. It worked perfectly, and I overclocked the computer again, ran Prime95 for a while with no errors. Been fine for a day with the RAM back in. Could someone explain to me what the hell is going on? Why does it randomly fail to boot, and why did taking out a RAM stick fix the problem even though the RAM is perfectly fine?
