Hello Chums!... Smiley

...just a quick question...or two...

When we type in our log in details for various Sites, is that information stored on our Computers for retrieval, or is it passed to the Site, who then confirm it, and pass back whether it is correct or not?

If it is stored on our Computers, where can it be located?...(I assume it is encrypted),

The other reason I ask, is because, in common with lots of other Folks, recently, my computer has refused to store my log in details for Sites even though I have requested it, (My security settings should allow it), and I cant figure out what the problem is...I have to type it in again for every Site I visit, (including Sim V).... Shocked...!

So....whereabouts are our log in details stored and handled?
..Our Browser?
..Windows?
..External Site?

Ta, muchly!...Wink...!

Paul...Logging out!... Grin...!

THe 'remember me' stuff is in the Cookies folder of ie/firefox/whatever other browser you use.

Firefox has another storage area for passwords, IE probably too but i dont use that.

If you have a weekly/monthly scheduled cleanup tool that one might remove the passwords again.
And if you use IE8... when you tell it to clear the files, restart ie afterwards as it wont always store the data after a clean request

Did you ever find a cure for this Paul?

My computer has started randomly giving me the BSOD and when I restart ALL of my passwords and login details are wiped clean.  Undecided

This is a fresh install of XP pro w/sp3 so I'm positive I don't have a virus.  Spybot, AVG, and Malware say my system is clean.

Maybe Microsoft has released a killer bug to kill our XPs so that we'll upgrade to windows 7 faster.  Grin Wink
