Is there anyway I can transfer the flight modeling from one aircraft to another aircraft. For example, I have the LIC Christen Eagle II and I love flying that airplane but its a little underpowered for unlimited competition areobatics. I also have a CAP 232 that visually is awesome but the flight dynamics are garbage. What I want to do is to have the CAP handle like the Eagle with a more powerful engine. Is there anyway I can achieve this and what do I have to change in the config file?

Changing the engine data is fairly simple:

Find "turbocharged" under [piston_engine] and see if it is a "1".  If not, change it to that and see if it gets you the performance you want.  If it is already turbocharged, or it doesn't give you enough power, more tricky things will have to be done.

As for the dynamics themselves, what exactly is wrong?

I know how to mod the engine up but the CAP flies awful. I want it to have the same charateristics of the Christen Eagle.

i do not know if you would be able to do it, but under the AIRCRAFT.CFG look for

[fltsim.0]
title=Beech Baron 58
sim=Beech_Baron_58
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=

This points to the .AIR file for the dynamics.

My "THOUGHT" ... and do not hold me it.   Rename your CAP's .AIR file to " CAP 232.BAK " .... move the Christian Eagle .air file to your Baron, and then rename it to " CAP 232 " (or whatever the original .air file title is) so that your craft reads the correct .AIR file.

I used the Baron just as an example.  If this does not work, at least you still have your original files saved in .BAK (backup) format so that you just delete what you did and rename the files, and everything is back to like it was.

Sorry, Captain.  What you suggest isn't going to solve the issue.  THe CFG file overrides most of the AIR file in FS.  For that reason, balance of the CFG is very important.  You cannot just import one aircraft's dynamics onto another aircraft.  There are many minute differences to consider that create a huge problem if not handled correctly.

Ikrave, what you are asking is the equivalent of:

"I want my car to race like a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

But you're driving a Ford Mustang!"

There isn't just a way to do it: it requires many hours of tuning and flight testing.  But it is possible.  I don't have the patience or want to do so, but you can find the means if you are so adamant.

I stand corrected.  as i said, dont hold it to me.  I have traded out .air files and gotten planes to fly..... BUT i guess i should have said or added "they fly like crap afterwards".

I hope you get things sorted out and working well.
