I'm pretty sure Mic made an entry this competition with a Tornado flying over the desert (unless that was a previous competition). And what a fine shot that was, a beautiful crisp shot with a nice composition.
If it was indeed entered into this contest, then I am astounded that it was not made a finalist.
I know this is a touchy subject, but I cannot believe the quality of the other shots considered for the finals, compared to this one.
Who should have one? Well, there are three winners in my mind, its far too hard to decide between these guys.
McLovin has a beautifully composed shot of a Lancer underway. Perhaps the epitome of American swing wings. The clouds gave a nice subtle colour to the shot, and it was reasonably crisp.
RAFLeigh has another beautifully composed shot, and a very creative one at that. Nice use of volumetric fog in the background, nice way to give a scale to the F-111 through use of the fence.
SeanTK, yet another beautifully composed shot. The paint is a little lacking in quality, being a single monotone grey rather than the rust that these Fencers are - but the positioning of each airplane, and the variety in the scenery make up for it.
Overall, one of these should have been chosen. The winning shot is extremely dull and boring. Completely flat ground with no autogen whatsoever, a low quality paint and lack of composition. The airplane is simply centered in the screen, with no apparent thought to what is shown and what is hidden.
I have several shots in the StudioV gallery. Perhaps you should check there...
