I don't recall seeing a shot from you, to demonstrate what a great shot should be. Tongue

At least these gentlemen made the effort, that alone makes them winners in my eyes.

I'm pretty sure Mic made an entry this competition with a Tornado flying over the desert (unless that was a previous competition). And what a fine shot that was, a beautiful crisp shot with a nice composition.

If it was indeed entered into this contest, then I am astounded that it was not made a finalist.

I know this is a touchy subject, but I cannot believe the quality of the other shots considered for the finals, compared to this one.

Who should have won? Well, there are three winners in my mind, its far too hard to decide between these guys.

McLovin has a beautifully composed shot of a Lancer underway. Perhaps the epitome of American swing wings. The clouds gave a nice subtle colour to the shot, and it was reasonably crisp.

RAFLeigh has another beautifully composed shot, and a very creative one at that. Nice use of volumetric fog in the background, nice way to give a scale to the F-111 through use of the fence.

SeanTK, yet another beautifully composed shot. The paint is a little lacking in quality, being a single monotone grey rather than the rust that these Fencers are - but the positioning of each airplane, and the variety in the scenery make up for it.

Overall, one of these should have been chosen. The winning shot is extremely dull and boring. Completely flat ground with no autogen whatsoever, a low quality paint and lack of composition. The airplane is simply centered in the screen, with no apparent thought to what is shown and what is hidden.

I have several shots in the StudioV gallery. Perhaps you should check there...http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1231872495 ...and see what SimV is capable of?

An-225, you're free to your own opinion, but there's proof below the winning picture that your opinion is outnumbered. I agree that I was a little surprised not to see some of the entries be made into finalists, but it was the opinion of the judges and then the opinion of the members.

There's always next month and the competition is just a bit of fun  Wink

Congrats to the winner. It was really hard to pick and you can see how close it came.

That number is no indication as to the quality of the opinions that took part in the poll...

Whoah!!! Shocked

I go on holiday for a week...log back in to this?!!! Cheesy

Thanks to all who voted for me...it was a good one this month!

AN-225 : As said, you're entitled to your opinion and I appreciate that it wasn't the quality of shot a lot of people are capable of, however it came through and JUST scraped the win!
As for the lack of autogen, this is the main downside to using photoreal textures Sad

Again, thanks to all who voted and look forward to seeing next months theme!!! Cool

Cheers,
Carl

For once my vote actually made a difference!

Well done, Flames.
How you set up this shot is amazing and it may not be the best quality but it was just how well it was done that won you my vote.  Smiley

Well done, and congrats to all finalists.

The people have voted, and the winner was chosen  Smiley  There is a reason the winner is chosen by the members...because what the members think is what counts.  If you don't like the vote, I'm sorry, but it is what it is. No need to blast the winner.  He put in his entry, and it made it to the top, through a selection of his peers.  I ask that you don't rain on his parade, his shot was favored by the members, let it ride man.  It was earned, not given.

Truck.
