and the website TMZ.com has said he is dead, however it is unconfirmed.

"We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive.

We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911.

La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II. "

LA Times report that Michael Jackson is in a coma.  Undecided

Why is it that when someone dies, they suddenly get all the crazy things they did erased and they become an angel?

He may have been a bit strange, but there is no proof he ever did anything untoward.

He was one of, if not the, best musicians of the modern day who has set many landmarks in the entertainment industry so I think he deserves a little respect on the day of his death.

R.I.P Mr Jackson.

I have no love for the man in general, but consider:

When a mass murderer (such as Ted Bundy) dies, do we not also observe that as a passing of the times?

It isn't about the man himself, it's that this marks a passing of a generation, or at least a period of history.

He was an inspiration for musical endeavors, especially Motown, etc.  He influenced many forms of music, from hip-hop to rock.  He won't be forgotten in our lifetimes, and will probably be remembered long after we are all dead and gone.

Rest in peace, Michael.

Realising he was an iconic part of our (pop) culture and all I still have to ask--  do we really need nonstop news chopper 9 coverage for the past 5 hours?

Listening to Geraldo go on a wild rant about "the upcoming brutal, nasty custody battle" seems a bit tastless.

I don't know, maybe its just me.

Hmmm . . . this isn't the place to discuss political agendas . . .

This thread is about Michael Jackson's death.  Seems to me that anything you say here should be related.

I didn't like his music, wasn't a fan of the man himself and didn't like the "negative" publicity that seemed to follow him around.

I'm also not shocked or surprised at his early passing away, he was never going to live to be an old man.

However, somebody's death is always sad.

Ditto. A very sad individual. I feel that the so-called plastic surgeons & hangers-on that took advantage of him must bear some responsibility for his early demise.

I suppose that we'll now be subjected to constant media tributes from people who deserted him during his hours of need.

I loved all his "stuff"....

A very professional performer....

...(and a very troubled Lad)...

He seemed to be destined to not live to a ripe old age....

...which is always a shame.

...but his amazing Music will live on!

Paul.

I disliked him alot due to the serious nature of the crimes he were suspected of BUT I am a firm believer that I may not judge other people.

I hope for his part he were never really dark and sinister as the media portrait him to be.

Still is sad to loose a human with great talent at such early age.
