I was running Vista 32, nHancer 2.32 and Nvidia 8800 GTX pretty well. Today I installed a new Nvidia 285 GTX expecting at least some improvement. I downloaded the latest Vista 32bit driver (186.18) and installed nHancer 2.51, and then configured nHancer properly. The newer nHancer is a little different not allowing you to duplicate FSX as I was used to and I did not see a guide in the forum that went step by step for this version. I know ... normally simple!  But for me ... would not duplicate with the familiar "Duplicate" name added. I could create with the same name and "Activate"but nHancer did not apply itself to my graphics and they were noticeably worse than I previously had with stairstepping and a case of the uglys.  I ended up going with the driver that came with the 285 (ver 180.87) and to the older nHancer ver 2.32. I spent several hours and I probably missed the obvious, but if I overlooked something simple I would appreciate the feedback.

Nick,
I had the new procedure printed out and followed it step by step ... but it acted as if I had done nothing.  Each time I installed (twice) I loaded FSX afterwards to check the visual quality, which did not improve.  I was surprised that the new procedure did not ask to create a "Duplicate" ... which I supposed was just a "new" feature. Frustrated that it didn't work, I uninstalled and then reinstalled an older version of nHancer. I then dug out my instructions that I had printed out for the old version on nHancer  and followed it (as close as I could) step by step.  I DID notice that in these older instructions it did list that you should "reboot" your system.  I did reboot ... and all is well with the older nHancer. Do you think my problem was that I did not reboot after installing and configuring the newest version of hHancer????   Shocked  I did not see that I should "reboot" in the new instructions ... although I know that should do it by heart now without even thinking about it.  I "think" I rebooted ....  but at this age it's hard to tell.  Grin Grin
