Here are a couple of shots of some work in progress.
The first is the D model.
2nd shot is the H model that is undergoing restoration at the Chanute Air Museum.

YaP51 (Yet another P-51 model) Wink

But seriously, those look very nice.  Is there a VC?

And just FYI, this should probably be in the 3D Design forum.  Don't worry, a mod will move it momentarily (I think).

Nice lookin' model. Let us know when it's ready for the lesser-talented of us to crash it on takeoff...

My system: AMD Phenom 9500 cpu, 2 x eVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS Superclocked vidcards (640Mb DDR3 each), Zalman "sunflower" 9700 fan, Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4Gb G.Skill PC2-6400 DDR2 800Mhz RAM, 2 x Sony 20X DVD writers, Thermaltake Toughpower 850W modular p/s, 7 x 120mm fans, Windows XP Home and SP3, 2 x 250Gb Western Digital SATA-300 HDs (1 for apps, 1 for storage and precious files backup), CoolerMaster CM 690 case, NOD-32. Won't run FSX. Locks up a lot with FS9, too.

Are these for MAIW or a different project?

Some classic military AI would be sweet, and go great in my Golden Wings & Silver wings installations. Wink

Shane,
These are for my personal use.
I may upload the textures if they turn out to be good enough.

I stopped in at the Chanute Museum last year and saw the P51H for the first time.
A few months ago they revealed the new paint.
I try to keep up on the progress of the restoration by visiting their website.
The guys are doing a really good job considering lack of funds and the fact that they are manufacturing quite a few of the parts on their own.

The museum really is worth the entrance fee of only 7 dollars.

BTW, MAIW did release an F14 package last year. That's about as retro as it gets....for now. Smiley

One of my favorite packs! (I have them all flying in FS9 & FSX  Wink)

I've been slowly converting MAIW packs to Golden Wings & Silver Wings by replacing the modern fighters with classic war birds.

Some of the models I've had to use are a little Frame heavy,  but it's a blast landing in Hawaii and seeing a strip full of B-17s, or flying in Europe and see  P-51's & 109's flying around every where. (wish I could make them dogfight.  Grin

Not as refined as if it were an official release, but it gets the job done.

Maybe I should learn to model and do Classic Military AI. Cheesy

Because you know the FS world is dying for another set of letters to memorize. Grin Grin

Shane,
Have you tried using FS2002 and CFS 2 & 3 aircraft as AI?
They're not as bad on frames as using FS9 flyable models.

Wow, no! I never even thought of that. Cool  Plenty of options to choose from also.

Thank you very much for that tip. Wink
