Why the heck would you delete it?!?!?!?!?!?! If you delete something from FSX, you should always make a backup. The deleted file ends up in the recycling bin. If you deleted the config file, didn't make a backup, and emptied the recycle bin it is lost forever.

*HINT*
When you search something it does NOT search the recycle bin.

Hope I could help. Smiley Smiley

I don't know if FSX is different from FS 2004, but I gathered that if you deleted the file, and then re-ran the Sim, it automatically created a NEW .cfg File?

Pau...G-BPLF...FS 2004... Cool...!

P.S.  .....generally, I try not to delete Files and Folders.
I just "re-name" them, so that they are not recognised by the program..Wink...!

Are you aware that this is a HIDDEN folder?, that you must set you system in Unhide Hide Files and folders? Otherwise you won't be able to see the folder or files?

I played for a couple of days without the fsx.cfg file with no problems.
I was told the game will create a new one but went to look for it and couldnt find it.
I recovered it from the recycle bin thanks a lot.

FSX does rewrite a new one if there isnt one, if there wasnt one you couldnt start FSX, just unhide your files and you will find it. Just read the sticky at the top of the forum, FAQs, the answer was there all the time.    Grin

FSX.cfg file

Default location... It's in your Microsoft folder.

File Path ....C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft

Make sure you have  Show Hidden Files checked

Windows XP

Click "Start".
Click 'My Computer'
Select the 'Tools' menu
Click 'Folder Options'.
Select the 'View' tab.
Under the 'Hidden files and folders' heading, select 'Show hidden files and folders'.
Uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files (recommended)' option.
Click 'Yes' to confirm.
Uncheck the 'Hide file extensions for known file types'.
Click 'OK'.

That shouldn't be necessary. FSX cannot run without a fsx.cfg. If you restart FSX after deleting the file it will create a new one. This will return all your settings to default.

Once you've located fsx.cfg create a shortcut to it & paste it to your Desktop. You won't have to go searching for it again.
