I wonder if this would work with FS9 or FSX?

http://www.wimp.com/gameglasses/

I can't imagine why it wouldn't, but I don't have any 3D glasses on hand to check.  Anyone got the lenses or materials to figure it out?

I tried something like that for FS9 a couple years ago in Oshkosh. It was okay, but not really worth it.

Edit: I see that it's only 2 bucks (or free if you already have glasses). Might need to try it.

I bought the EDimensional 3D glasses a long time ago... to use with FS

ED's glasses work differently from those... instead of superimposing 2 renders (one red, one blue) so the glasses can filter them out, they rapidly switch between one eyepoint and the other, and the glasses, which are basically solid LCD panels, flicker on and off alternatively so each eye only sees the image its meant to see... this happens rapidly so you don't notice the change

It works, but you have to realize that the computer is processing two renders for each frame, so expect a significant hit in performance...

Another issue happens sometimes with 2d overlays on the screen, such as your crosshair in a shooter, or any 2d interface during the game... usually they will sit somewhere between you and the screen, but other times it might be distorted...

another thing I noticed... we don't realize this when we're playing on 2D screens, but one realizes that objects on screen are much smaller than they should be when you see them in 3D... the virtual cockpit in FS won't seem to envelop you... it will look like a miniature cockpit... but that depends on your zoom level.... if you have a large enough monitor, you can get a more realistic experience... mind that when I bought my glasses, I was playing FS in a 17" CRT monitor...

Still... for 2 bucks... it's definitely worth the shot  Wink

Cheers

That sounds like a much better system than conventional 3d with the color rendering.  Those give me a headache since it makes the colors look so psychedelic.  I wonder how FS would look on my 47' monitor.   Wink

Did anyone see how well it worked yet? I have several pairs of red and blue 3D glasses from old books with 3D pictures. What would be really great is if they made a system similar to Imax which maintains original colors!

Might try it. I've only got cut out squares of red and blue acrylic though, but it worked on TrackMania when I got them to stay in place (probably blutack them to my head)

Does this give a polarised version too? Red Blue gets too annoying for me to look at, but polarised doesn't affect my eyes as much.

I think there's an option for polarization instead of colors, but Skoker said it won't work, so I don't know.
