Back in the day, if you played stupid with the cops, most likely you'd get thrown a beating, and most likely you deserved it, and noone complained. The majority of police officers I've dealt with during my teenage days were pretty much OK, you showed them the proper respect and they treated you the same, But there was an ocassionall just plain mean bastard that did push the limits of his authority. and now with cameras everywere, we get to see more police in aggresive situations. I can understand beating the crap out of an idiot that put the lives of officers and civilans in jepordy after a car chase, but this is UNCALLED FOR:
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/31202935/?GT1=43001
Now if this woman pulled out a hat pin, than I'd have no problem with the out come, And this is the image the public sees, and this puts all other officers (unfairly) in A bad light. It's always the few that screw up that makes the rest pay. There's idiots in every profession, and sorry to say police officers aren't immune.

I love how just the few instances a year that come into the public eye get so scrutinized by the "masses" that have no effin idea what police work is all about.  They just see the 'bad' snippets that are considered newsworthy.

Tell y'all tree-huggin' whale savers what...........put yourself in a dark place......you're actively looking for a subject that just brutalized someone's wife/daughter/sister/husband/brother.....beat 'em to death....you know where the perp is and after the rest of your buds arrive you are tasked with a nook & cranny large building search....

I doubt your narrow imagination can actually wander that far!

Your first thought is, "....at $xx an hour, this ain't flippin' worth it....!"
Your second inclination is to (successfully?) keep from crappin' your pants and runnin' home to mommy screaming like a schoolgirl!  (No offense meant towards schoolgirls!)

"Paul...gradually losing all respect for the local Police Force..as we do during such occurrences!....."

How about the next time you need saving from something you remind yourself of the respect you have lost for the Officer that:
----pulls you from your burning car after you've been t-boned in an intersection
----chases down the rapist that was on his way to your house to commit another "act"
----takes a gun off of a teenager that was gonna jack you at the drive-thru
----thinks of his loved ones as he/she enters the dark building to look for the dangerous felon so that the likes of you may have a safe and relatively secure society to abide in

Your type is the first to cast a stone when the 'jack-booted badge wielders' step over the line............but by the same token, your type would be screaming like a banshee into the 911 operator's ear in the event that something bad would be happenning to ya and you need help like ten minutes ago!

Go ahead and lose all your "respect", be sure that you don't call 'em when you need 'em!

You hit it right on the head, you'll never hear about any of the above. They only want you to see the bad parts, cause they have to show you they are in charge. Why do you think they have to put 40 rounds into a dude like they do in NYC? They don't want you and the police force to be friends, and it's puting a HURTIN on the men and women on the JOB who are trying to be for REAL!

1. They bashed his face in...  Grin

2. If these people who are against this crap just happened to have been there when it happened, they would have been happy the cops were handing his a** to him so they could arrest him. Imagine if he'd gotten away... They would have freaked... Am I right? If they were there, they'd have a different opinion probably.

3. I hate the media.

I liken garbage like this to what happens when you get your order effed up at the drive-thru.

Once you see that it's the wrong order, or they didn't hold the mayo, or whatever.....you're gonna either be burning back there at warp-three, or melting a phoneline as you launch a tirade at the manager-on-duty!

BUT!!!  How many times have you gotten perfect fries, perfect quarter-pounder and the best shake that you've ever tasted, then called that same manager-on-duty to tell them that they rock and are a blessing to the fastfood industry.

ANSWER----> NEVER!

VERY few people EVER are complimentary when their expectations are met and/or exceeded.  Therein lies the nature of the beast.

All of the day to day, layin' it on the line work that Law Enforcement performs does not garner all that too much notice simply due to the fact that it's not what most would call newsworthy.  Simple as that!

What sort of a headline or lead story would be Officers Arrest Dangerous Felon after Late Night Dark Deserted Building Search, and nothing else happened?

All that goes by the wayside when an incident goes down in a way that it upsets the liberal bleeding-heart segment of society.  Far too easy to finger point.  And that is pretty much the height of their skill level anyway, IMHO!

Don't get me wrong though....if an incident entails officers crossing the line and taking things too far, then I'm all for giving 'credit' where credit is due and nailin' them to the nearest wall....but none of the examples brought up in this thread involve anything like that.

Just simple bashing by those with a computer and way too much free-time.  Maybe if those individuals had a hobby or two................ Roll Eyes
