Are the two compatible in the same install?

If not, I need a third Install of FS9. Grin

Got one for modern stuff, and looking for a nice retro install, so all of this Cal Classic traffic doesn't look so out of place. Wink

Installing the 2 to the same instance would be redundant. SW is basically a 'scaled down' GW. It regresses the terrain, scenery and airport textures and autogen but without the era roll back of GW3 airport scenery.

GW3 removes some major airports that didn't exist pre-WWII, and most other are regressed to grass, dirt or 'aged' pavement on runways and no paved taxiways or aprons.

SW wings installs 'era' textures but  leaves airport facilities intact. This is probably more fitting for the Cal Classic eras.

I have 3 installs: FS2004 for modern, SW for '30s thru '60s (with Cal Classic scenery and AI) and GW3 for pre-'30s vintage scenery and ai.

I've got them installed now, in seperate installs, and I'm loving them! Cool Shocked

I have Golden wings: up to 1945
Silver Wings 1946-1962
FS9 1963-present

The Golden Wings is by far my favorite to fly in so far.

Does anyone else fly in these, and is there stuff I should not be missing. Grin  Wink

This forum has some links to old aircraft, beyond the plentiful amount we have here at SimV.

Being inherently curious about the older aircraft associated with FS, what are these two (programs?) you've mentioned - Golden Wings and Silver Wings?

Golden Wings is an addon which reverts a large portion of FS9 back to the era of 1900-1940's, removing large airports and skyscrapers.

It also reworks the autogen & scenery textures to better suit low & slow flying as opposed to high altitude jets.

Silver Wings does the same without the time regression. But I removed all modern aircraft from my Silver Wings install and replaced it with Cal Cassic traffic & scenery, reverting it to the 1950's-1960's era of flight.

Then I have my original FS9 install for all of my jets & modern era flying.

There are tons of scenery & planes available for both setups, Silver Wings is here at Simv, and Golden Wings may be also.

There is also a very nice addon for Hawaii made by the same authors called 'Golden Hawaii' which fits nicely with Golden Wings,  also here at Simv. Smiley

Worth it if you have the space for all three installs. Wink
