In case you're wondering what the heck this has to do with FS...

Quote:
Back in September Microsoft announced it would stop selling packaged versions of Money, The Register reports, making it available only as a download, although it stressed its commitment to personal finance.

Or this:

Quote:
“Microsoft remains committed to helping customers chart a course to financial well-being. The MSN Money Web site will continue to provide personal finance information and advice plus comprehensive market news and quotes. We will continue to evolve and enhance the online MSN offering in the coming months.”

Sound Familiar?

Kevin

P.S.  Thanks in advance for your unique opinion, Nick.  I'm sure you'll make it known...   Wink

From MS MONEY site.

With banks, brokerage firms and Web sites now providing a range of options for managing personal finances, the consumer need for Microsoft Money Plus has changed. After suspending annual updates of Money Plus in 2008, Microsoft is announcing today that we will no longer offer Microsoft Money Plus for purchase after June 30, 2009.

Make sense. My wife's bank does most of what Money/Quicken do online.

I prefer to keep my info on my own machine though. Not on thier servers. Additionally, I do more personal accounting stuff currently, and really do not care to share it, as not all of my accounts, investments, etc are through one firm.

Banks are supposed to keep all that stuff confidential. But lets say my bank is one of those that they gov took over.. (okay.. bailed out, what ever). If (and I said IF) it goes further to true nationalisation, then they will have access to all my books, not just my tax returns.

Don't like that idea.

Call me paranoid.
