well I was watching ABC news because I wanted to see if anything new happened in the Air France investigation and before it they were discussing regional airplanes (Regarding the buffalo crash) and at the very end the anchor asks if the public should avoid reginoal airliners and the reporter on the other end said (as a fact) that regional aircraft are WAY more dangerous than long haul jetliners.
Is it me or does the media not like smaller aircraft
(If this needs to be in Real Aviaition im sorry)

There is a reason so many are afraid to fly, and that is the media. They like to skew the facts about aviation just to scare people. Its easy to do, since few people understand how aircraft operate. Our FBO frequently tells passengers as they are leaving the airport, "Drive safe, you know thats a dangerous way to travel."

I guess people just assume that smaller means the company couldn't afford better and that the quality reflects there. In truth, they are buying expensive and well maintained kit which is suited for what they are doing.

I like smaller aircraft.... you don't have to smell other people this way. Hence my love of single seaters
There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

When I flew a smaller aircraft (Piper Warrior II) As co-pilot, my mum who HATES FLYING felt alot safer in a little plane... And think of how many people crash cars, then compare it to flying

Just was reading an article this morning that I though belonged in this thread...
US Airways 1549 that crashed in the Hudson River, an Airbus 340. Plus they went on and on about how that airplane was not designed for that kind of accident and should have crashed.

My father also prefers Cessnas or any prop planes.
And he HATES travelling every two weeks in 737s or 319s (I wish I could!
)
A lot of people feel more secure traveling in small props, or in regional buses....
