Hello Captains,
I've done some searching around, but haven't seen any way to add downloaded aircraft to FS2004 as AI aircraft... can
someone tell me (or point me to a website that tells me) how this can
be done?

Thanks!  Cheesy

Download Traffic Tools v2.02 from here http://www.simviation.com/simviation/static.php?ID=201&page=1

Unzip the download and read the help document, Readme.htm.  It will explain, step by step,  the process of creating your own ai traffic.

You can also use one of the  ai flight plan utilities that provide a GUI. AI Flight Planner is one such utility: http://members.shaw.ca/aifp/.  There are others in the Simviation Downloads, FS2004 Utilities section.

Learning the Traffic Tools manual method first will give you a better understanding of fundamentals and what each of the inputs mean when using any of the AI utilities.

A good tool for checking out your new flight plans is the FS2004 Traffic Toolbox SDK. http://scenery.org/tutorials_fs2k4_SDK.htm The Traffic Explorer allows you to check out your ai flight plans in the sim.

Note: although you can use any aircraft for ai, high detail flyable aircraft can have an adverse effect on your sims performance. There are many aircraft modeled for ai use that are 'performance friendly'. Links can be found in the SimV 'Adding  Aircraft Traffic (AI)...' forum, here. http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?board=AFCADTTools. It is also the forum to post your questions regarding AI traffic.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.          Igor Sikorsky

You know....you can just rip up a to-do list.

Also, you need to know that not all flyable aircraft models make good AI models.

You will see some strange behaviour from flyable models sometimes.

It also isn't a good idea to use flyable models for AI since the system will get bogged down.  Make sure you use low-poly models, or ones that are strictly intended to be AI.  Otherwise, you may end up with 5-10 FPS at normal airports.
