72-year-old ‘Kung Fu,’ ‘Kill Bill’ actor reportedly hanged himself.... Huh

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31103217/?GT1=43001

So this is how it ends grasshopper? Apparently Kwai Chang Caine's harmony didn't stay with him.  Undecided

Sad news.  I enjoyed the Kung Fu series.  It was re-run a few years ago on some local station, so finally got to see most of the episodes.

He was in Bankok making a movie.  The timing of this unfortunate event seems rather odd, I'd say.

Very sad.
I am shocked that he would kill himself- he certainly wasn't really as "together" as a lot of the characters he portrayed ("Bill" was probably closer to the truth- a very smart, disciplined person with a soft side but many "demons")... but he just didn't seem the type.

Maybe he had just found out he was terminally ill or something? But even then, I think he'd either decide to fight, or bow out in a more dignified way, with an explanation left behind.
Or maybe it was foul play... who knows?
Regardless, it makes me sad, and I'll miss him. He had a special presence onscreen.

Yes, it's sad, more so because of the suicide. I did not really care for him lately, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a very good actor. My favorite role was the blind man in Circle of Iron. It is also one of my all time favorite martial arts movies. If you have not seen it, it would be worthwhile to rent it. It also had Christopher Lee, Roddy McDowall, and Eli Wallach. I may not have liked the roles he played in the last few years, but he will still be missed. Sad

Well, so far the Bangkok PD is accepting it as a suicide, but... it just seems wrong to me. As messed-up as he had been at times, he didn't seem capable of just giving up.
But then again, I didn't know the guy... and everybody has an inner life that is hidden, from even those closest to them.

His publicists insist that there is no way he committed suicide. This would tend to suggest that he must suspect foul play.  Undecided

Apparently he was not only working on a movie, but he had several others in the works for the future.  Undecided

Here's another - http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=412917&GT1=28103

This is gonna turn out to be quite bizarre and we may yet find out that Mr. Carradine was a perv like his character in "Kill Bill'.... Roll Eyes

I always loved his movies and was especially fond of the old "Kung Fu" series. Had to what it in reruns, but it still was interesting.

God only knows what actually happened...... Undecided

Right... also, a guy with that money and fame, not to mention his brains, could easily arrange to indulge his kinky turn-ons more safely... it's very strange.
But as I said earlier: "inner life". Maybe it had to be dangerous or he couldn't enjoy it. Lots of people are into that sort of thing. I can't really say I'm relieved he didn't intentionally take his own life, because this is worse, in a way... Undecided

As Robert Heinlein once said: "Sin lies only in hurting someone else unnecessarily. Hurting yourself isn't a sin- it's just stupid."

I think it's way more bizarre than what happened to Lee... the autopsy confirmed Lee had an edema, which was related to an allergic reaction to a painkiller. Really not so mysterious.
