News this morning from Istanbul.
the drivers met with FOTA and they are all united behind them in the row.  (hardly surprising)
And FOTA are now considering how to organise a breakaway series next year. According to very watered down sources, it would be the FOTA teams running 3 cars per team. Ferrari already rumored to have the Raikkonen, Massa, Alonso line up. Which to me is a virtual dream team.
They've also said they will make the cars as they should be. The fastest possible and none of this artificial dumbing down crap.
I really hope this is true. Just watching the highlights of the last few Turkish GP's, You have the beauty (in my opinion) of the 2006 cars, the speed of the 2007's, and the challenge of the 2008's. Quite honestly, this years cars have done nothing in terms of the show, oooh they wiggle around a little under braking. Whoopy, this time last year we had a BMW leading the championship, and an almighty title fight getting ready to kick off. This year its a 2004 repeat of two cars who could lap the field in almost every race if they wanted to, playing with the field.
I say bring on the split

Good. Get rid of the corporate big cheeses (particularly Toyota, who have about 2 seconds of F1 pedigree) and bring back the privateers they swallowed up in the last 15 years. Smiley

Well, that would see everyone out except Ferrari and McLaren. How long would one have to be in motor sport to qualify to enter F1?? I have to agree with Craig. Toyota for example have more of a connection to F1 than a team returning with the name Brabham or Lotus. Just like the new Mini, looks like one and everyone likes it, but that does not make it a Mini.

It's the ethos that matters though. Wink Williams are the best example with their breakaway from FOTA to enter next year's championship. Politics aside, they know their only interest, for the company and its backers is F1. Smiley Much preferable to teams who only have an interest solely for placement of their brand.

Ps. I only said it to wind up Craig! Grin
