You certainly have my attention.  Been watching the intake for the monthly screenshot contest and am really envious of how sharp and unjaggy all of your shots are.  Something to strive for.

OLD:  Yes, I understand re computers.  I wish I had a wife who understood these damned things but she's an Italian and specializes in bites (cooking) rather than bytes. I just needed to rant a bit. As for splash, this has driven me to several splashes of the kind you refer to. Smiley.

SHANE:  Thanks for the tip.  What I can't understand is, I have never used the photo program, nerver downloaded to it,   and didn't even know I had it in the computer.  But  I'll work on it.

PROP: It seems there are more than one versions of GE. The one I have is an overhead shot of a jetliner over Manhattan and is marketed by Flight 1 software. It was developed by Peter Wilding and Anthony Vos. It comes with a booklet on configuration. Your screnshot  is beautiful and nothing like what my version of GE produces.

{ REX is for FSX only.... hence the X. }

The people who made REP, and REX are making a FS9 version of REX.  You can see screen shots of it's development at their site.  It looks just as nice as REX IMO. Wink

As for REP, definitely the BEST freeware alternative to GEP.  Smiley

I'm not sure about this GE, I was only aware of GEP, which gives FS9 a close match to the look of FSX default, just with better FPS on my system. Wink

This is GEP: http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/sgtu4.jpg
                 http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/SGjunePWC2c.jpg

Another thing that will help is a good 'mesh', or the 'bumpiness' of the ground.  I use the complete world mesh here at Simviation. It takes a long time to download all of it, but it is well worth it. Cool

FS9 out of the box leaves a lot to be desired, but thankfully, it's had many years worth of great addons produced for it to make it anything and everything you want it to be. Wink

I used to spend hours downloading and installing areas of  the Mesh Shane refers to, (originally on Dial-up Internet!), for our frequent Simviation Multiplayer Tours in the past.... Cry...!

I finally got fed up with the constant, long-winded process. and finally splashed out on "FS Global SE" from Justflight to instantly cover the Whole World in one go!.....>>>>

..all supplied on Jewel Case DVD's for back-up safety...Wink...!

P.S. ...I'll tell you sumfink else...

..after considering splashing out loadsamoney in a Payware "Weather" program for my FS 2004...until I came up with a superb cloud effect in my free-bee version of "FS Skyworld SE", which suits most of my requirements most of the time!... Kiss...>>>

It did take quite a while, about 4 months of casually downloading a section at a time , while browsing the forum.

Now I have them all saved to a backup disc, a storage folder on my hard drive, and the backup external drive. I will never have to download, any zip file I have ever downloaded, again. Wink

I was too cheap, and too stubborn at the time to just go and buy a one shot package. Cheesy Grin

Without a doubt, the best piece of advice for all FS9 users. Smiley As this is where you will spend most of your time, and unless you are a die hard realist, FSSkyworld  combined with FS9's real world weather option, will satisfy your every weather need. Cool

I've been using a combo of Active Sky 6.5, FSSW, GEP, and REP textures for my sky & Active Sky's weather engine. Shocked Smiley

Great tips here! FS9 is wonderful and I don't mean to be overly critical re the scenery. It's all magic!

Another payware mesh to consider is FS Genesis www.fsgenesis.com.  Lately they've had a bundle offer for FS2004 which covers most of the known world and the price is user-friendly.  It works well with most scenery/texture layers you'd place over it.

I believe the GE versions that DenisH and I have are simply 'detuned' GE Pro's.  At the time, the Pro didn't seem worth the extra money but, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for.

I just upgraded my FS from FSX to FS2004, and I can't figure out how to add new aircraft frames, i.e. A330, A340, and the A380?  Do I simply upload aircraft textures and the aircraft instrument panel? or, are there basic airframes like they have for FSX?  Thanks in advance for any help.

You what?  Upgrade? to FS2004 ,I miss that English part  Undecided I have both FSX and FS2004 its a 6 years Old software  Huh
I run IN FSX Much more realistic ,More realistic F.Dynamics, better graphics , I feel this thread like you were saying I Upgrade my 42 inch LCD TV to a B/W 12 inch tube TV

So You Upgrade from this?

FSX Default Boeing 737-800 Upper console view

FS 2004 is for all those, like me, who have/had purchased FSX (when it was first released) , tried it out, and found that it fails dismally to perform to our satisfaction with our existing Hardware.

I have spent the past few years enjoying "flying" daily all round the World with my FS 2004, instead of spending the past few years dedicated to viewing the FSX and Hardware Forums in a vain attempt to improve the situation with FSX.

I despair for all the Flight Sim Newbies who waste their time desperately trying to get FSX to perform to their satisfaction, when actually they could be up in the air, and flying, with a copy of FS 2004...and then concentrate on FSX at a later date when their Computer System is more suitable for the application!.... Wink...!

I have both FSX, (since the day it was released in England), AND FS 2004 on my hard drive, but until my Hardware becomes suitable for running FSX "smoothly" to my satisfaction, I spend my time daily enjoying FS 2004...with FSX "sometime in the future".... Smiley...!

I prefer daily "Flying", which was what the Flight Sim was meant for, instead of daily Fiddling, and desperately trying to get it to work!...Wink...!

Providing that my outside scenery pleases and satisfies me as I travel the World, I have little interest in the quality or appearance of the Aircraft which I pretend to "fly"... Wink...!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...(and FSX)...The Explorer... Wink...!

I just read some commentary in a Simviation thread that FS2004 is now unobtainable. I didn't note the thread nor did I register if the posters were in the UK or other parts of the world.  But 2004 is available here in the USA and is currently being offered by Amazon for about $14. I'm considering buying a copy or two as a backup against the day Microsoft no longer markets it.

Ok, I'm not sure  Undecided , I don't think FS2004 its not longer unobtainable or MS aren't making more copies (If they do they are really Dummies
I have a better word but I don't want to cause trouble

FS2004 is and was one of the best FS of all times and still is a huge business , To be Honest ,there are more FS enthusiast that uses More FS2004 than FSX ,

Pablo,  Roll Eyes I don't have a super machine either, if I were there there,I mean  UK I will go straight to your House and fix your PC and get both Flying in Multiplayer ,
its all about settings Old chap, and Will promise you you'll never would go back to FS9   Wink

Alex, if its just to do with settings, etc, then according to the multitude of never-ending posts for help, etc, in the FSX  and Hardware Forums, I would have spent the past three years constantly "fiddling about" with my Computer, instead of "Flying" happily every day in FS 2004...and ignoring my Computer!

I've got FSX as you know, but life is too short, and I haven't got the patience for constantly "messing about" with it!...Wink...!

That process will come when I've got nothing better to do with my time!...Wink....!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004...and instant, problem-free Flights.. Smiley...!

Note: I'm also a Rebel!... Smiley...!
"Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight"l is the official name on the CD... Wink...FS9 is the shorthand version... Grin...!
