Use GIMP! It's great! I used it for textures in 3D for the last year, but now, I use PS 7.

That is a great looking sky, and a great aircraft. But as Mic said, the cutout needs work, and the lighting isnt right. I do like the idea though.

As for the lasso tool, when doing a composite I use the polygon lasso tool. zoom in to the aircraft you are cutting out, and slowly work your way around the aircraft 1 section at a time. go along the lines of the aircraft, then out away from it to clear some space, and back around to close the "box". I zoom to 4-500% and work my way around the aircraft that way, pressing backspace to clear the selected area.

here is an example.

do this on your duplicate background copy

Thanks for the tip Wink but i dont have access to photoshop anymore  Cry

Oh well, it can be for future reference, and general know-how. Just ask if you have any questions though. See if you can find a copy of Photoshop 7. Should be cheap now. Its what I use and works well for me!

AAre you using photoshop elements 7?

Also you can try Gimp.  Its like photoshop but free and the compression isn't noticable. Wink

Way to beat me to it...

LOL

Yes, GIMP works extremly well. Doesn't have as many plugns, but it's still very close to Photoshop. It works for me, and it sure works better than MS Paint!  Grin
