Hi all,

This problem has been annoying me for a extremely long amount of time now and I'd really like to know if there is a way to fix it. I have tried many driver versions with and without nHancer and no matter what combination of settings I use (trust me I've tried countless combinations in FS Settings/Driver Settings/nHancer) I cannot fix it. I took some screenshots to help me explain the issue to you.

Here is a side view of the SIA A380. No shimmer/jaggies edident on the textures.
...
As I pan around, the textures begin to shimmer.
...

is this just one plane? all planes? Default planes too?

My FSX and Nhancer settings are very clear.. if you use them exactly as I posted and this problem occurs with repaints and/or an aircraft you downloaded, I would have to point to the textures of the aircraft being used, or, something is not allowing Nhancer to do its job correctly.

you also did not menition if this is FSX or FS9 and you did not mention the video card in use or the driver revision

This is on all downloaded aircraft and AI aircraft.

I'm using FS9 and a Nvidia 7900GS. Every driver version results in the same problem. I've tried about 6 different drivers ranging from Forceware 90's to 180 (cant remember exact versions) on Windows XP Sad

Where can I find your nHancer settings?

I've tried countless numbers of combinations of driver, FS9 and nHancer settings experimenting to see if I can get the problem fixed. Not once have I ever seen it without the shimmer. My very old computer which had a Geforce 2 MX even managed to reduce the same aircraft shimmer when increasing the 'Image Quality' setting to Quality or High Quality. On my 7900GS there is no difference between High Performance or High Quality in relation to this issue (even with nHancer). Tried mucking around with the texture clamp setting too and no avail. I'm starting to think its a hardware limitation and not software due to the fact I've tried so many combinations and NOTHING seems to fix it.

Any ideas at all?

This is FS9 on a old 7900...  ok, well that one I may not be able to help with simply because its been years since I messed with FS9

however

In your FS9 graphics settings.. I think its the Hardware tab as I recall

Check in: Render to Texture, Transform and Lighting
UNCHECK AA,
Set to Trillinear Filtering
Mip Quality 4 (note set to 4 for now.. you can try higher later)
Hardware Lights 8
Global Texture Slider 100%

Close FS9

You have a very old video adapter and therefore how well drivers work is problematical I will suggest 2 for you to try however I can not vouch for how well they may do.

If you installed the new version of Nhancer 2.5.1, please uninstall it. It will not work for any driver below 182.xx and right now we need to try a few older drivers to see if this issue is persistent
Nhancer 2.4.5

http://www.nhancer.com/downloads/nHancer32_2.4.5_Setup.exe
You need NET framework installed.. if you already have 3.5 it should be backwards compatible and you are ready to go. If not do make sure you have at least NET 2.0 installed.

Here are the 2 best (latest) drivers I know of for older cards..   I would like you to try them starting with 180.48 and if it crashes or does not work, try 174.74

174.74
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_174.74.html

180.48
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_180.48_whql.html

To uninstall.. go to add and remove programs and run the Nvidia driver uninstall. When complete, reboot. Once back in Windows give the system a minute or so to fully boot and then install the new driver, reboot

Wait for a minute or so and then reboot again..   there is a reason for that

Start Nhancer 2.4.5 and set it up as shown here:

http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=27540&PID=156769#156769

In the OPTIONS menu.. make sure to select “ALLOW OVERRIDE OF PREDEFINED PROFILES” is selected and instead of you selecting the Flight Simulator X profile.. select the Flight Simulator 2004 profile. But look very carefully at those screens and set up BOTH profile AND Global exactly the same.. make sure there is NO CHECK in “Enhance in-game AA” in Nhancer.

as soon as you make a change, the setting is made in the system.. simply close Nhancer when finished.

When ever you change drivers or Nhancer you must set Nhancer back up as shown

See if that fixes your problem
