WINNERS, WINNERS, WINNERS

Judge Patchz says :

Mictheslick!!

...

"He chose one of my favorite aircraft and used in a very realistic way. The lighting is perfect and the sun glinting off the canopies really set it off. And I love the water. Congrautlations Mic."

CONGRATULATIONS Mic!!!!

"Bob70 takes a very well deserved second place."

...

"Bob used an aircraft I was unfamiliar with when he posted. But I have become familiar with it this week. It is one of the ugliest aircraft there is, but his angle and lighting made it beautiful. The sky is perfect, just what I wanted to see. Congratulations Bob."

Third place is for ShaneG!

...

"Your shot caused me more difficulties than any. I love the shot and it was in the lead for most of the week. You chose a great airfcraft, and the sky and water are very beautiful. And the angle is great. Congratulations Shane."

"Choosing what to say about these shots and what made me pick them, was just as hard as choosing the shots. Thanks to everyone for some really good shots. You made it very difficult to choose a winner, but that is part of the fun.

Thanks for all the help and advice Shane.

Larry"

Nice work on a great comp!

Judge Mic is back on the bench next week! Being our winningest JC entrant,
we should maybe name this contest after him. Cheesy Wink
Congrats to him and the other finalists, and great job to all that entered. Smiley

Cheers

ShaneG

Cool theme! Just last night I downloaded a plane that will work perfect for this weeks JC!

Good call on the no payware. Those guys with the new Catalina would have a very distinct advantage!  Wink

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Consolidated P2Y-2 "Ranger"

The Ranger was one of several flying boats created by Consolidated for the U.S. Navy.  The P2Y-2 entered service in 1933.  It and its follow - ons served until 1941 when they were replaced by the famous PBY "Catalina's".

Exactly! I love that plane. If I ever get where I can buy some payware, that will probably be the first one I buy.

Shane, I really like your entry, it's one of the types of shots that are my favorites. Very nice.

Aussie, when I was in my teens and twentys there were a few subjects I thought I knew everything about. Well, I finally learned that I will never know everything about anything. Your choice of aircraft is one I had never seen or even heard of. Excellent choiice. As to the island, it looks familiar but I can't quite place it.

Good luck to everyone. I know I will be seeing some great shots and will have a difficult time of choosing.

I will have to go for another sim - I can't get the payware clouds out of my FS.

The water in Microflight is pretty nice - maybe I will give it a try.

Very nice. I don't know how old you are so you may not know what I'm talking about. But the two knobs/gauges/whatever above the three smaller ones look just like Mooneyes.

Thanks Bob. I should have known it is a Martin. I have the PBM-5 Mariner. And as soon as the download finishes, I'll have the Marlin. The Marlin is a much better looking aircraft.

From looking at previous contest entries, I had an idea it might be a little difficult to judge at times. I HAD NO IDEA!
I thought I had pretty much decided from the entries so far and would just have to fine tune for later entries. But just like I said before, the more I looked, the harder it got. Right now, I am nowhere close to deciding. But in a way, that is a good thing. It just proves how talented our members are. Cheers!  Smiley

I used a little tip that Bob70 started I think, I would put all the entries into a folder, and then set them up in a slide show for my screen-saver.

After a while, the winners will separate themselves from the rest. Wink

Yes, it would. But even if I were capable, I'm not sure I would want to do that much work.

Super late entry. Doesn't compare to some of the shots already posted:

I will have my shot in late tonight... so dont finish judging yet!

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

It was extremely difficult, but Shane has my ruling, er, uh, choices. Gee, 25 years in law enforcement and I never got to play judge before. Great job guys.  Smiley

Great contest, Larry!
It was nice to see some classics fly once more Wink

For those interested, the island in my screenshot was Howland Island, related to the tragic disappearance of Amelia Earhart and Fred J. Noonan during the round-the-world flight in 1937. I can't say for sure that the AC I used was involved in the search as I usually try to match the AC with the scenery.

Congrats, Mictheslick and the runner-ups!

Thanks Patchz for choosing my shot as one of the winners. I know it is not the prettiest aircraft in the world but you learn to love it after you fly in one for awhile. We used these big Martin's back in the 1950's in my old Navy squadron VP-46
