I agree, very nice, although some FD tweaks have been necessary. I've repainted it to 'my' colours also!

I don't know much about FD or tweaking, but I thought it kind of turned and banked like an ocean liner. It's not as responsive as the default Lear but then, maybe it ain't supposed to be. I like the dynamic shine...

Hello, all:  Is there a forum on FS9 that will tell you how to identify the various landing strips at airports? I'm sure there is but I can't locate it. I am totally in the dark when the tower tells me to take runway No. 7 since I have no way of identifying and the map provided in flight analysis doesn't give any detailsat all. now this Q has been asked and answered many times before  so please forgive the ignorance. But is there a map one can bring up on the kneeboard in advance of landing at an unfamiliar airport?

It will agree with your heading indicator if it's the correct runway....

If there's an ILS, usually the map will give the runway number with the ILS frequencies by mousing over the green arrow.

Why are you hijacking this thread? Huh

Ask your question in a new thread, and you'll get more answers.

Now everyone leave this alone until he does what I suggested . . . Wink

Sorry, I didn't realize I was "hacking" this thread.  My error.  But thanks for the advice.

Don't worry, not too concerned.  Just try to make your own thread next time, since you'll get an answer much faster.

As to your question:

If you want to do it the REAL way, go to AirNav and download the airport diagram of your choice.  It will tell you exactly which runway is which, and the exact heading of said runway.  I do this for nearly every airport I fly into, unless it's a very small one.  Then I just fly over it and look down to get the numbers off the field.  Anyway, print out the diagram and keep it handy for when you're about to land.

If you don't have a printer, don't fret.  Just keep the image open on your desktop, and when you get vectors to land (IFR) or are cleared to land (VFR) just switch out for a moment and take a quick peek at the diagram.

Now, as an alternative to that, you could download FS Navigator, a free program that pops up a complete moving map of the entire FS world with all the details of every single airport and navaid anywhere right at your fingertips.  Some people prefer this to nav charts, but I still prefer to do it the realistic way.

FYI - FSNavigator is an excellent program but it is no longer supported so will cease to work after the free 20 or 30 uses.

Those of us who registered it before the author "retired" feel very fortunate.

I was not aware that it had a limit on it . . . too bad.  I kinda liked it for just getting airport data on approach.

Travis:  Thanks very much for the advice. Very helpful. I'm fairly new at this so once again, I apologize for breaching the forum protocol.
