Where can I locate FSX textures? Is it my understanding that you need a payware version of 3d canvas to make your own?  Is there any library of textures or any other app to make your own?

I'm confuse hondadogie about you question

you made the textures , I don't know if you mean the general texture  folder or the airplane texture folder ,
Leathers  wood, and many other stuff  are in many places free like this one
http://www.cgtextures.com/

other I take it by gogleing around like heads of screws,

Panels drawings indicators gauges ,fuselage paint you made them in photoshop or Pain Shop Pro (I use both)

one panel can be drawn like this
     ...

all that then goes to alpha chanels ,convention to DDS or Bmp dtx1,3,4  or extended 888-1

Letters odf panels like the one below the shot above and this is tedious job have to be made by resizing to 4094x4096 then back to 2048x2048

the exterior fuselage paint are made using corel draw for lines ,PSP or photoshop for shadows and dirt ,dds  image for bumping and specular maps are pluging filters brough to you in the FSX-SDK to photoshop

this is all drawing my friend ,few aircraft are photo painted , but excuse me if I misunderstood your question ,I have never ever Paid  for any texture..

If you're talking about a repaint of a plane, just do a search for that plane and plenty will come up...

3D canvas is a modelling tool that has several FSX plugins and exports to FSX via XtoMDL. e.g.

Yes, you need the PRO version ($70)

Not sure what you are asking about textures. You need to add your own textures from a painting tool (e.g. GIMP or paint.net) to your 3D model before using the ImageTool.exe (comes with the FSX SDK) to convert them to DDS files for use in FSX.

Ops I forgot to mention the ImageTool.exe  Grin

Interesting about canvas ,I heard of it but didn't knew what exactly does, well I don't use it I assume it make things easier in bump and specular maps with their alpha chanels etc, very cool Cheesy
