The following site will be gone mid-summer, so I'm posting a screenshot here of one of the very valuable listings that the author provided for those of you that need to do minor repairs/recoveries of your FS2004 installation.
The website:
http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/index.html
The resource:
From the graphic above you can see that Gauges are on Disk 2 in MSGAME3.CAB. Follow the 7 simple steps below:
1. Put your Install disk #2 in the drive and use Windows Explorer to find MSGAME3.CAB.
2. Create a temporary folder on your desktop to extract the .CAB file into.
3. Start WinZip and drag MSGAME3.CAB into the open Winzip window.
4. Extract the .CAB file to your temporary folder with "use folder names" checked.
5. Copy the entire contents of the resulting "\Desktop\Temporary\Gauges" folder
6. Paste the copied files into your "\Flight Simulator 9\Gauges" folder, answer "yes" to overwrite all.
7. Delete the temporary folder from your Desktop to regain disk space.
That's it, you've just refreshed your gauges folder with new copies of the default gauges, replacing any that may have been missing. This procedure can be adapted for use with most any file in your Flight Simulator installation, so you can now install any add-on you wish, with confidence in knowing that you can return your installation to it's default state using the installation disks if necessary.
Opa has been posting a head's up of this situation on many forums. Thanks for the info Opa!

You might also want to mention the excellent file listing of the 40,000 or more files on the FS2004 install disks. It is in Excel format and was compiled by
Brian Collins
.
I don't think it is in the Simviation libary but is available at Flightsim.com (and at Avsim when the get their library operational again).
The filename is
fs9cddir.zip
A "must have" resource in my opinion.

Someone should have taken the time to ask the owner of the site - Jim Robinson - for
permission
to post a picture of his site information
prior
to posting.
That would have been the courteous thing to do. The information is in the public interest but his presentation of it is his intellectual property.
Just to clarify - My only posts at various forums were to advise that the site would be closing. I did not assume it was proper to copy his presentation.
