"Patchz has been steadily improving his screenshot taking ability since he joined SimV. The Dauntless is a unique and interesting choice of aircraft and I like the action with the other aircraft waiting on the ground. The clouds are also nice. Great shot, well done."

"Gtirob01 takes a very well deserved second place."

"This is a classic shot. It contains a very interesting expiremental Douglas aircraft flying low over Edwards AFB. I really like the old-photo look to it and the smoke from the engines is a nice touch. This also helps to give a good sense of speed. Overall a well edited shot."

Third place is for Skoker!

"This is a really good action shot. A late rotation of a DC-10 with alot of traffica in the background, reminds us of the good times when this magnificent airport was still open. The landing light on the Dc-10 is really special and adds depth to the shot. Nice one skoker."

Yeah, just drop it in the alternate history submission area and you'll be good to go. It's that simple!
I just use a standard refrigerator box for my time travel needs, but pretty much anything will do if you have enough tin-foil.

Stiletto

The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was a 1950s United States experimental jet aircraft with a slender fuselage and a long tapered nose, manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Its primary mission was to investigate the design features of an aircraft suitable for sustained supersonic speeds, which included the first use of titanium in major airframe components. It was, however, seriously underpowered for its purpose and could not even exceed Mach 1 in level flight.

The Douglas X-3 Stiletto was the sleekest of the early experimental aircraft, but its research accomplishments were not those originally planned. The goal of the aircraft was ambitious - it was to take off from the ground under its own power, climb to high altitude, maintain a sustained cruise speed of Mach 2, then land under its own power. The aircraft was also to test the feasibility of low-aspect ratio wings, and the large-scale use of titanium in aircraft structures.

The low aspect ratio, unswept wings were designed for high speed and later the Lockheed design team used data from the X-3 tests for the similar F-104 Starfighter wing design. Due to both engine and airframe problems, the partially completed second aircraft was cancelled, and its components were used for spare parts.

Gee guys, I don't know what to say, except thanks. I just now found out that I won when I opened my email. I will let Shane know asap as to the details for the next contest. If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
