I've been looking into purchasing some Payware Scenery stuff but I'm stuck on which to choose.

I was very impressed by the freeware FTX releases and would love to explore Australia in FSX with greater eye candy however I feel I would rather have a scenery package that would change my whole Flight Sim world.
Nick's screenshots of GEX are mind blowing, and what I've seen of REX is amazing. So I'm stuck with what I want to buy.
My main issues are Framerates, at the moment I run everything Medium to High, and can scrape 20 fps in busy places. What product would hit my frame rates the most?

Cheers, Crussell.  Smiley

Get GEX, from what I've heard. It actually improves your FPS  Shocked.) Then get REX, I only had about a 2FPS hit...and then FTX if you felt like it, not sure what the FPS hit is like there.

If you fly in the states, get GEX. By the way, it does improve performance a little bit because of the way it handles autogen.

If you fly Australia, get FTX. It will take a little bit of tuning to get it to run to your liking, but well worth the money.

If you want an environment upgrade for the entire world, get REX, which will enhance your experience at any time and place in the sim.

I would get both FTX and REX for now and hold GEX till later. Explore FTX for a while (it's an entire continent!) and there is much to add to it like OZx which adds hundreds of airports and the scenery is just spectacular.

I would recommend the FTX & REX as a combo.

I have seen GEX on a friends PC and I personally do not like the scenery layout, it looks like many little blocks with hedges and houses in it, then it repeats. Just how I see it therefor just my opinion.

FTX is a whole different type of product that provideds close to and/or photoreal textures, to go with that the Orbx team has many free and payware airports.

To top that OZx released 300+ custom made airports to go with that for FREE.

I just feel that there are no scenery that can match this quality.

Adding REX this setup will blow your mind as they compliment eachother very well.

What makes it so nice is the plenty freeware that comes for that area.

Only problem is you will be restricted to OZ but the eye-candy makes up for that a trillion times.

I too am not from OZ but as a customer of FTX it is the best out there IMO.

Goodluck with the choice  Wink

PS: Frames on most FTX products is supurb!

Sorry to grave dig my own thread, but my parents have finally agreed that I could have REX for my Birthday (1 month away).
So, REX is a go, that just leaves which region of FTX I want...  Roll Eyes

FTX Blue looks amazing, the problem is so does Red, Gold and Green.  Grin Cheesy

Any recommendations on which region to buy? Oh, and unfortunatley the DVD with all of them is probably out of the question!  Cry Grin

Cheers Wink

Hmm, it is a tough choice but if I had to pick one it would probably be FTX Blue, it covers a good sized area with varying textures. This is just a personal preferance because I live in the region. But then again they're all great. Good luck. Smiley Wink

Blue was my first choice, but all the reviews and pictures are so convincing. Sad

I would go with FTX Blue because of the diversity of Southern Australia! It has farms, grass strips, mountains, cities, towns and anything else you can think of! It includes, South Australia, Tasmania, Parts of Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales! So i would say that is the one to go with. Also a lot of great airports to go with it like FTX YMML and FTX Avalon etc...
