Very scenic area down there... I mentioned 0A7 earlier but another great airport to visit  near those mountains is W91 in Va. (a little ways NE of Bristol). Smith Mountain Lake is pretty awesome from the air, and the runway is right on the water (almost).

@Rotty  .. Scenic is an understatement.. hard to explain.. you gotta see it firsthand (as you know)

I'm compelled to go back to that area.. mountain flying is addictive.. SO much to see (adding the airports you mentioned)

The only scary part (even compared to landing in gusty, mountain winds)(that ride was so violent, that the footage was unusable), was the folks tending to the FBO at (airport name deleted).. They looked kinda like Fozz's buddy (fewer teeth), and even harder to understand.. Roll Eyes

Edit:  I think there was a still in the hangar.. they got nervous when we walked near it.. Lips Sealed
