Okay, so I've fiddled around and came up with some pretty nice Photon Torpedo effects for the star trek ships by Bruce Fitzgerald, and I'd like to upload the effects package.
Here's the "header" of the "read me":
**************
Firstly, thanks to Bruce Fitzgerald for the excellent renderings of the iconic spacecraft of Star Trek. Live long and Prosper!!
Secondly, these effects are based upon the "fx_wing_guns" effects. A great tip of the hat to the original author(s), my only contributions were "swapping" out new .bmps for the texture of the "Tracer" effects, and tweaking the size of the effects. 99.9 % of any credit goes to the original author of the wing guns.
**************
Question is, is that acceptable, or should I still seek out the authors of the "FX_wing_guns" go get their "okay". I have not found any "thou shalt not modify and repost" anywhere for the effect (and I renamed them for my purposes anyway. I wouldn't want a Spitfire spewing Photon Torps, anyway!), but I do feel the original person(s) should get credit where credit is due, or, if they do not wish modoified versions of their work distributed, (Which is totally understandible) I would not want to honk them off by doing so.
I hate moral delemas!

Is there a name or e-mailaddress of the original authors? If so, I think it is better to ask permission first. Better to be safe than sorry. If there is no name or address or they don't reply within a reasonable time, go ahead with what you've got. Give them credit for their work and that's it.

Thanks. The closest I could find was the "Spitful" update by A. F. Scrub, and although it was not perfectly clear if he was the author of the FX_Wing_Guns, I sent him an E-mail, just in case. If he is the author, I will of course, honor his answer, and it it's a green lite, will also, of course, modify the "header" to give proper credit.
