June 5, 6, and 7th, 2009!
http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html
I'll be going on the 6th, anyone else planning on attending?
Here's the current aircraft roster. They usually end up with a lot more aircraft than are listed here. Expect the list to expand in the next few weeks. (Already an impressive list)

I'll be flying in at least one of the dates. As it gets closer, I'll let you know. I'd imagine Sean (rottydaddy) will be attending, too.
Sean(TK), do you live in the area?

Yes, I live west of that location. I was thinking about flying in also (Cessna 172RG out of KCXY) but it'll probably just be easier for me to drive there. (And cheaper)

Not as fun, though.

I'm trying to line up an airplane,, The day that I can get one, is the day I'll fly there/back. It's about a 2.75 hour flight from KOSU.. It'll most likely be Sunday.
UPDATE... I have a Warrior booked for Sunday.. now weather is the only factor

I'll only be there on Saturday, but at least no one will be missing out on the aircraft action.
Among the usual aircraft crowd, there are supposed to be appearances by at least one Spitfire, Corsair, and Wildcat. I also am seeing that they are plannning on bringing in a Helldiver! I didn't even know that a flying one existed!
The usual B-25's, Mustangs, and a crap load of liaisons will be out and about as well.
http://www.maam.org/wwii/ww2_acft.htm
Brett, you're going to have to make sure you arrive at a good time before:
1. All of the parking is taken.
2. The actual flying displays start (field is closed unless it is a medivac flight that needs to come or go.)

Better check this out... you may have to leave earlier.
http://www.maam.org/wwii/pilot_info.htm
A possible Plan B: you fly into a nearby airport, and one of us could fetch you there, drive you to KRDG, then bring you back later in the afternoon while the show is in progress (actually a really good time to
drive
out of there).
The only possible snag with that is that getting in to the show by car can take awhile... you have to line up with everyone else to get into parking areas on the perimeter of the field, then hop on a bus for a short trip to where you stand in line for entry.
Another possibility: no chance you could just wait until the field re-opens for your return flight? Should be plenty of daylight, and that way you won't miss the show (which is awesome).

Agreed. Most, if not all of the heavy stuff is flying in the afternoon.
Thinking about splurging on a ride on
Yankee Lady
as well.

That's a good idea.
If you have second thoughts about the "A"-ticket ride (B17), I see they are giving rides in a Cornell this year for a lot less (in addition to the usual Stearman and AT-6 rides).
No airplane rides for me, though... I probably shouldn't even be spending the money on attending the show (still ain't got no "yob").

Oh man.. that throws wrench in the works (I read that, and mis-read that I could leave as late a 2pm on Sunday).
Ground transportation to/from a nearby airport is my only option.. Leaving after 5pm dosn't allow for a rest-stop going back.. getting back before sunset. I only fly at night when the weather is PERFECT.. not gonna count on that..
I'll talk to my flying buddy.. see what he thinks.. Mean time, I'll keep looking here. Whomever it is that provides the ground transportation, will get some right-seat yoke time as payment

Wow, I didn't know they extended the closure time. It used to be earlier on Sunday since that is the last day of the show.
Unfortunately with Reading, the only fields that are "close" are more than 10nm away.

You may be able to contact one of these two airports to see if they do car rental services for the airshow weekend. It wouldn't surprise me since I bet a lot of folks will be trying to fly in.
As far as I know, they normally don't do rentals, but you never know with the circumstances.
The FBO at Pottstown is pretty good, so it's worth a shot.

Another thought: whoever drives, assuming it's someone attending the show, wouldn't necessarily have to do a RT, and miss any of the airshow (one reason I'm not exactly volunteering, LOL).
They could do the pickup (early, I hope- remember, getting in is a bit involved), then when Brett has to vamoose, maybe he could call a taxi or something. The requirement would be that either the buses are running at that time, or the taxi would be able to get closer to the display areas. It's a loooong walk from the spectator entrance to the road, or even the parking areas.
But that would be simpler and cheaper than renting a car, and nobody else would miss most of the show.
Assuming I will be there Sunday (still not definite), I'd be willing to pick you up at Pottstown or wherever on my way to Reading, if there was another plan for getting you back there while the show is in progress.

This will get too complicated, in a hurry..lol .. Making plans for Oshkosh is easier.
I'm gonna see about going to the show, Saturday, and then spend the night.. fly home Sunday. This is doubtful, as I don't think I can have the plane for the whole weekend..AND, I'm not sure my buddy can go for two days.. AND.. hmmm.. that's enough "ands"..

Well men, we're two weeks away. Any final decisions been made? As of now I'm looking at arriving at RDG around 0800 on Saturday morning from N40.

My final plans depend on a few things... for example: do you have an empty seat on that flight?
Regardless, I will probably also be there Saturday, but it's still kinda up in the air.

Not unless you want to cram into the luggage hold of an Aerobat.

Apologies for the second bump, but it's getting to crunch time. What seems to be the meet-up game plan (if any)?

There's a good chance I won't be there... really shouldn't be spending money on stuff like that right now. And we've started covering the glider... might be busy with that next weekend. But we'll see.

Doesn't look like I'll be flying down either. The Aerobat is heading north to receive some new avionics. Probably for the better, as it's cheaper (but not as fun) to drive. Hope to see some of you guys there. It's looking like Saturday for me.
Sean, if you want, you could meet me at my house and we could carpool. If anything, you can save on gas.

Welll.. I won't be going either.. Getting the plane for the whole weekend was gonna be tough enough.. Now we're also short a C172.
That's a bizarre story itself. There's a golf course right at the threshold of runway 28L at Port Columbus.. You guessed it.. leading-edge wing damage from a golf ball strike
Makes ya wonder what risk a jet might be at
