I have FSX: Acceleration and my computer has 1GB RAM, 2.80 Gz. Recently I ran PC tools antispyware, antivirus and registry mechanic in hopes of speeding up my system. The initial results were great, but since a few issues have cropped up which are frustrating me:

The resolution of the computer cannot be changed from 11xx, 8xx. I used to have my res up to the max all the time.

When playing FSX, I get a black screen with some aircraft, as a matter of fact I get a black screen on the instant flight screen. Happened with the Alphasim F-22 and a freeware grizzly that I have, did not happen with the Acceleration F-18 or the trike.

What could be happening that I get the black screen? Sometimes it lets me see (mostly in 2d panel view) but otherwise the screen is completly black. Sad Sad Sad

Sounds like your video drivers got messed up, get the latest version and reinstall them. That should fix things

I have an ATI graphics card, when I noticed the desktop resolution wouldn't change, I downloaded ATI Catalyst, but this was BEFORE the black screen problems. I started changing the settings to see what worked and after awhile I noticed I couldn't fly with the F-22. I took those drivers off (uninstalled) and reverted to the old ones but it's still happenning... anyone know where I can get good ATI drivers?

Some place in the FSX section Nick N had some suggestions for setting up ATI cards, it was probably in the same thread as setting up your PC and FSX or in the tread with setting up Nvida cards.  You should be able to do a search and find it.
