I know this is not their fault, but here is something I really don't like about Ultimate Terrain.

Taxiways and 'farm roads' are getting picked up as streets, and this cannot be disabled; at least I haven't been able to.

I loaded up the airport that is surrounded by our farm. I was shocked to see all the landclass around the airport, which is in a very rural area, had been changed to urban. This is because the mapping programs they use pick up all the dirt roads we built around our fields as city streets, and it picked up the taxiway around the airport as a city street.

It did this all over the area, so what was a rural area is now miles and miles of urban sprawl.

I pulled up google earth and turned on streets, and it does the same thing ( i think they use navteq as well? ). It shows them all as streets but w/ no names. and a lot of streets are misaligned, which causes a host of other problems.

Anyhow, I unchecked the enhanced roads option and residential roads option and the problem did not go away. Some areas are fine, but its just annoying.

Again, not the UT programmer's fault, but it'd be nice if the mapping companies they get information from could be more accurate.

Its also now apparent that many airports in FS9 are misaligned, and now have highways running through them.

Anyhow, its still a nice program.

Interesting post.

At times I have the same view of SceneryTech.  SceneryTech puts a lot of urban areas in Saudi Arabia, even though I have never flown over Saudi Arabia in real life I am thinking that there are way to many cities and not enough sand!  I am also thinking that there is way to much farm land and not enough sand.  I also realized that it is not all SceneryTech's fault, when you use a program to generate scenery like these addon programs do, nothing is going to be perfect, although I do think that SceneryTech could have done a better job in places.

I have UTX, SceneryTech, FS Genesis, FEX and GEXn, overall I am very satified with them all.  They do make a world of difference.

I have FTX for Australia and that looks fantastic.  I also have MegaSceneryX SoCal, Phoenix, Dalls, Hawaii, these also look great at an altitude, my favorite is SoCal, really like to fly over the mountains and desert of SoCal.  I have MegaSceneryEarth for Long Island and parts of NJ.  This also looks great.

I can not wait until FTX starts releasing the USA.  MegaSceneryEarth has great stuff, but compared to FTX MegaSceneryEarth's prices are sky high!

difference with mega scenery is that its photo-real, so it should be pretty accurate.

with ultimate terrain, its mistaking rural dirt lanes for city streets and making this gigantic urban sprawl.

so a city of 5k now looks like a city of 50k when you fly over because of the landclass changes it makes.

I stopped using mine simply because in Seattle we have the Puget Sound. Well, to make a long story short, all of my ships in the sound now end up in the middle of the city now. It may be good but imho, not that good.
