I dropped, yes DROPPED, my 8800GTX last night!  Smack me and call me a DA!

P5K-E mobo, Core2 Duo E6750 chip with 4 gigs Dominator ram.

Cant seem to find a new 8800GTX card out there in retail land.  What would I get of the new cards to replace the excellent one I trashed?  Im a bit lost...As usual...I think...

Thankie...

A 8800GTX?

The direct replacement for that would be the 285 GTX

The next step down would be the 260 GTX but make sure it has 215 Processing Cores and not 192

Given you are on DDR2 and a dual core proc the 260 would do fine

Since it is a P35 chipset motherboard you would not be as hindered moving to a PCIe 2.0 card however you will not have all the higher functions the card offers and it will still run fine

The 8000 series is being phased out.. actually, its gone.. so your ony choice is the 9800GTX ( less performance than a 8800GTX) or the 2x GTX series

Thanks for confirming my choice of new vid card for this older rig.  Im gonna sort out one of those shortly.

BTW, Im sitting on my new i7 chip and most of the components to build my new machine.  Just waiting on the case and XP x64.  They should be in Monday or Tuesday.

I can wait.

Got lucky.  One of the members of the computer club I've joined had not one, but two, nVidia 8800GTX.  I traded the use of my tractor and implements for them.  Taylor needed to put in his garden and do some box blading.  Nice?

Its not who you know, it's what ya got!
