I don't watch talent or reality shows but I happened to see a story on the news about this woman and her appearance on the show Britains got talent. It's simply incredible and quite inspiring.

"Never judge a book by its cover"....

We are all guilty of this at times and it takes people like Susan Boyle  to shock us all back to reality.

Yes, Susan Boyle has an amazing voice and I wish her all the best. Smiley

Watched it for the 5th time now... Amazing... just...  Shocked Shocked Shocked

A standing ovation on the second note and all throughout the song is something truly remarkable... if she doesn't win the contest it will be a calamity

I'm rooting for her... and wishing I had BBC here  Roll Eyes

Oh, and BTW, when's the next show?

Cheers

Really?...It wouldn't make much difference as this is on ITV Tongue

I can't stand any of these talent/humiliation show nonsense....If she was good enough (both vocally and mentally) to be a popular singer then I'm sure she would have achieved that a long time ago.....

Why do I get the impression that this Simon guy already knew how good her voice was and the impact she'd have - standing there looking like your maiden aunt then singing that first note so beautifully.  She may be only a one hit wonder but she's one of us and we love her.

The "contestants"  who participate in the "got talent" series are kept "secrete" from the judges until thier first performance. They do not participate in the auditions like in "American Idol"
However, I'm shure the producers knew the impact she would have. Yes, I undetrstand that Cowell is a producer but, he in not part of the talent  selection.

As someone who has been in the music buisness, I can attest to the fact that there are thousands of very talented people that you will never hear of and just because someone is famous, doesn't nessasarily mean that they are talented.

Anyway... Susan Boyle seemed to to not realize (to the full extent) what a great voice she has. Don't forget, she comes from a small village in Scotland and reportedly suffers from some sort of learning disability.

Some bean counters in the music industry (who I have learnd to dislike) obviously felt that Susan Boyle has an unmarketable appearance/demeanure and passed her by. Now, like the hypocritical leaches that they are, all want to jump on the Susan Boyle bandwagan.

BTW, IMO she sang it much better than Elaine Page. Smiley

Simon Cowell was probably the one laughing at her more than anyone else before she sang... He is a bit of a bully to most people at the best of times, but more than willing to say how good someone is when they are truly excellent.

What a great singer indeed.

However she fares in the contest she's become an overnight sensation in the US, somewhat like our new President but perhaps not on the same scale.

Here too... she made national news!

I've watched the video about 10 times now... got the song stuck in my head  Roll Eyes

I think her song choice greatly added to make the scene... It wouldn't have had the same impact had it been some fluky mainstream hit... This song sounds like an anthem... it was awesome  Smiley

Cheers
