I've tried out the FreeFD software. I really like it. The Feelthere 737's PFD or EADI just displays the speed tape. No Altitude tape on the right. So i use the FreeFD EADI. My only problem is that on the FreeFD EADI the flap settings aren't displayed along the speed tape like they are in the FeelThere version. I was wondering what I have to do to get that to work? I also noticed that when using the FreeFD EICAS, the EGT, I think thats what its called, would redline when I have throttles forward all the way for take off? Is that normal?

Remember that FreeFD is/was an unfinished piece of freeware that is no longer supported.  Many things are missing and or don't work like the "real world".

Getting the flaps speeds on the tape sort of requires that there be a FMC active to calculate those speeds depending on various loading and weather and altitude situations.  NONE of that is modeled in FreeFD.  So I know of no way to do that.

The "redlines" for the EICAS and such are hard coded into the software.  They might be for a different engine variant than the one you are using.  Or they may be wrong.  Don't know.

But it ain't bad for FREE!  Wink

If you are looking for more realism, the author of FreeFD is the same one as the Ellie Avionics software.  While the FMC is not yet in production (and hence no flaps speeds yet), the PFD, ND, and Standbys are available ....and at what I think are good prices.

The PFD, ND, and Standbys are VERY much improved from the FreeFD versions, with lots more features, realism, and importantly faster speeds of update by FAR.  The new Ellie EICAS, when released, will allow for much customization to fit various aircraft.

Hope this helps.

best,

Oh wow. The Ellie Systems looks really good and the price is right. I'll have to consider buying these ones.
