Well, I've got to do a speaking presentation as part of my GCSE; and we're supposed to do it on something we're interested in. And I chose aircraft.
Problem is, the teacher said it's got to be interesting if it's about planes; not just drivel on about facts.
So what plane do you recommend to talk about? I was thinking of: Spitfire, Vulcan, SR-71 and that's about it.
Thanks

Lol, I'm not sure that really got into service though.

Yes Very True. Thats why it would make an interesting story about the reasons why it was not putinto service.

Not a bad idea. As Richard is in England the TSR.2 might be a better choice. http://www.thunder-and-lightnings.co.uk/tsr2/index.php

If you don't mind something international, what about the UH-1 Huey? Plenty of history with that aircraft.

Or closer to England, the de Havilland Comet (either the airliner or the prop racer)

I'm assuming the audience will not be a group of aviation enthusiasts.. so narrowing it down even further (like military or specialty aircraft), might not keep their interest.

Maybe something more broad-based and civilian ? Maybe start it off with the line, "When you go to an airport, did you ever wonder how all those big, fast jets full of hundreds of people, come and go without flying into each other?" ...

... and then give some sort of not-too-technical description of air traffic control ?

747, SR-71, Concorde, F-14 they will think of "Top Gun", That's all I can think off that will keep the attention of people that don't care.

I do a similar thing (all be it for 10 year olds) once a year for my wife who is a teacher. I cover different aspects of aviation from gliding to cigar tubes. The differences, the requirements and an odd angle, but the similarities between aircraft and there parents cars Huh......The advantage I have though, it I raid our store and am able to bring everything from a nose wheel to a igniter plug. I always end it with a coupe of kids coming up to the from and demonstrating how a life vest works by actually letting them "pull to inflate".

PS sounds like your teacher is a ball of laughs!
