I have managed to get my rig fixed after letting the magic smoke out.

Problem is FSX + Add-ons are installed on a 160gig dedicated drive, this drive is linked to my main drive.

My OS is also installed on the main drive.

The OS did not like my new setup so I had to format my main drive and reinstall Vista.

I then linked up my FSX dedicated drive hoping I would just be able to go ahead without installing all the add-ons.

FSX now gives me an error code not allowing me to register FSX  Cry

I can fly and use my add-ons, just stops after 30 mins  Cry

I feel I will have to delete the content from the FSX dedicated drive and reinstall FSX, atleast I can leave behind most add-ons to save install time.

Is there anyway around this having to reinstall everything just to be allowed to register my product?

Thanking helpers in advance  Embarrassed

Probably not. Your new install does not know anything about your dedicated drive so most likely you will need to reinstall. Freeware aircraft will probably be ok but payware ... no.

i had this problem... i upgraded, then reinstalled FSX and it wouldn't let me reactivate, saying i had installed it too many times...

after much trying, including a long international phone call to microsoft support, which was fruitless, i found out that this is a registry issue, which didn't notice FSX was 'uninstalled' before you tried to reactivate again

thankfully, Flight1 offers a tool that will clean up your registry paths and let you activate again... get it here... it's the fourth one down

hope this helps

Cheers
