WINNERS, WINNERS, WINNERS

Judge Barbr says :

"Okay, well, here are my favorites -- there were things I liked about every single shot, and I think any of them

deserved to win. In the end, I just went with what called out to me the most... but I wanted to congratulate

everyone on their great photos.

Harold!!

...

"If You See This... Run!"
This was a unique shot in its simplicity -- no stunning sunset, lightning, strong contrasts or shadows... and it

didn't even comply with the directions to have "cloud coverage between the plane and the ground." But, it won first

place because the clouds simply came to life -- they were as much a part of the primary subject (as much as the

plane) and I did not feel like the clouds were just backdrop. The clouds looked mean and boiling... as if they were

mopping up everything right behind the jet plane that swooped out from above the clouds.!!

CONGRATULATIONS Harold!!!!

In second place, Spectre177

...

"Into the Sun"
There were a few other great photos of planes right next to the cloud layer, but this really had a special place in

my heart... I could just feel the tranquil silence as this plane pierced the thick clouds, and as Spectre

mentioned, got a glimpse of the "warm" sun... but the clouds really "made" the shot. The sharpness of all the

textures, the way the light bounces off the plane, and the nice tail/wing lights that shine through the dark clouds

were all parts that I really appreciated! Great job!

In third, Eno

...

"A pilot enjoys the pure exhilaration of flight."
Just a terrific, photogenic shot. The clouds were beautiful, and as others have mentioned, it looked "like a

photo." The tilted perspective was really creative, and I especially liked the darkened sky!

Great job everyone! Thanks for the challenging opportunity!

Barb"

Nice work on a great comp!

Judge Harold steps up to the bench next week! Congrats to him and the other finalists, and great job to all that
entered. Smiley

Cheers

ShaneG

Soaring Angel

"An Angel, soaring over the clouds like it's namesake."

"ANGEL"

This shot makes me feel a little proud, it has some nice qualities that show how I've improved over time as a screen-shot artist.

I'm trying to convey a mood of serenity, and calm. The nice puffy clouds give a safe, protected feeling, while the soft purple and orange colors sooth the viewers eyes. Smiley

Thanks to Travis for the wonderful Angel! Wink

Pictured is a Eurocopter AS365 "Dauphin/Dolphin" helicopter. In the backround are the mountains of Oahu, in Hawaii. These two things have been such an enormous part of my life in the past and present, that I thought it would be fitting that I portray them here, immersed in a tropical sunset.
The Dauphin/Dolphin has been a major part of my life from the beginning, due to a relative using them in some form or another as part of their flying career. The portrayal of part of Oahu reflects the island of my birth, and where I was raised for part of my life. These two things will forever be treasured pieces of my upbringing, and in my opinion, have defined who I am.

Lived on Oahu (Kaneohe) for three years before getting transferred here to California...it does become a major part of your life  Smiley  And I did see the USCG fly their Dauphin over K-Bay at least once a day, keeping up with their daily patrol...

BigTruck is in...
http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/barbtruck1.jpg

I chose the "Fast Mover" because of my obsession with high speed birds and the awesome ground support they provide for us ground pounders, I chose Hawaii for my scenery even though it is under the clouds because you wanted clouds, and because that is where I met my girl and got married, and I chose the Marine Corps paint job because...well...it's obvious, the Marine Corps is my life  Wink

I did a shot with that AC a couple of days ago. Can't use for this contest because it doesn't mean Barb's criteria.

Will save it for when you win the next JC Contest, assuming you'll do a Marine theme Cool

Unfortunately I havent had any time this week to get FSX fired up, so I will enter a shot I've already taken.

This shot was taken with the intention of having a "beauty and the beast vibe". The beauty being the sun setting behind the clouds in Hawaii. And the beast is of course the Tomcat. It also has an "in the clouds" feel as well.
