Hi guys,  I'm looking for a few opinions on how I'm doing with this.  I tried making the textures by hand and dislike the results, so I thought I might use a photo I found of the same engine.  Please give me honest opinions here guys.  If it sucks, please tell me.  I can't learn if I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Kevin

Here's the original photo...

...

I isolated the top jug, because it seemed the best defined and put in an aluminum area and the hub...

...

Then I stacked the 9 jugs on top of each other, placed the rods and some other parts in the aluminum...

...

A little bullying vertices around, and this is what I got in the viewport...

...

And installed in the plane rendered in Max ...

It really looks nice! Congratulations, Please show me how it looks when you hide the radial cowling Roll Eyes. I've tried to make the piping and the wiring work on the transparent texture for the Renault engine of a Caudron but the result was really awful due to the priority of colours. Will you as such details how do you deal with?

Looks very nice!  How exactly did you get a full image of the piston jug?  The rods in front of it seem to preclude that?

I isolated the one jug, then carefully colored in the rods, then mapped the rods to a silver texture...  Easier done than said.  Wink
