YouTube's really starting to p*ss me off, I'm getting copyright notices for putting songs to videos even though I gave the artist credit for the song both in the video and description box. When I filed against the notice they (Youtube) deleted the audio to the video because it was not digitally certified by their music 'people' (AGM or something like that)...
If I get anymore notices I'll tell them where go, and what they can do when they get there. This is the reason I deleted my account on Youtube.
...I think Google is ruining Youtube...

Fark?
It's hard to explain, so just check it out,
www.fark.com
Basically Fark members submit news articles that are weird or just useless news, as well as headliners, but they submit the link with a headline of there own that's usually rather funny or snarky. It refreshes all day and night, so it's a good site to just browse all day if you want to keep up with current events.

I suppose one side to it is that you are sometimes just giving away songs for free through Youtube... Which essentially is piracy.
If you add a song to your video, someone could download it through one of very many programs and convert the file and remove the video layer to give them just the song. Quality isn't always fab, but you get a free song for not much effort.
Adding 'this song is copyright of whoever' messages won't exactly do much, if anything that is saying that you know it is copywritten and you are ignoring the copyright infrigement yourself. Uploading a .ISO of Windows Vista onto the internet and saying 'This is copyright of Microsoft' doesn't mean it isn't illegal and I don't see why it would be any different for music or video. Someone owns it, you don't.
I can see why they are doing this and some of the time I don't blame them. It is giving away free music or media where eventually someone loses out. I heard UK internet bills will be made higher for everyone because of all this uploading of illegal content and in order to get money back on money lost through piracy we will all have to pay a bit more.
The worst they did to me was to supposidly put an advert on my video. Though, the advert is apparently only viewable for people in America so it has no affect to me whatsoever.
I completely agree that Youtube is a good way to advertise songs and other things... If you hear it on there first you might be inclined to buy the album, but you can still just download the song for free too. All you need is more Official channels and allow people to upload this copywritten content legally because they own the copyright.

I can never understand the problem here. We stand firm against pirate software, but ripping off music is acceptable. Any music video that is copied and posted is pirate material as is any video you/we post using someones music as the soundtrack. You have not got specific permission form the author you are also pirating and it makes not one bit of difference if you give credit to them. Youtube, whilst a great idea is 10% personal videos (as it was designed to be) and 90% TV shows/music videos/film clips/CCTV all of which are copyrighted and do not belong to the poster.

And I thought record companies wanted people listening to their music, but I guess they're just in it for the money. It seems like instead they could be using youtube to their advantage rather than seeing it as a liability. Same with TV shows
I say when you become an artist being immortalized in your music forever (if its good enough) should be enough credit.

That's why most people are in business.

Being immortalised is fine but that doesn't pay the bills. Ask Vincent Van Gogh. Oh, I forgot. You can't.

Complete balls. I've been a musician for years and had my stuff ripped off for years and i'm sick to death of it tbh. It's attitudes like this that drive me mad. What do you think we're supposed to survive on, merchandising and touring?
It costs a fortune to make an album and when it sells, i expect my cut. You want to use a song in a video, then pay for it, simple as that. I fully back Youtube on this and i'm glad they're on our side for once.
I've lost loads of royalties due to dodgy russian sites selling my albums for years and personally i'd like to shoot the lot of them. I won't stand for piracy of any sort.
And as for that last statement, do behave
