Hello again!!

it's finally here!! just got it this morning! here are specs:

Intel Core i7 920 2.66mhz (haven't OC'ed yet)
Intel DX58SO MotherBoard
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600mhz  - 3x 2GB in triple channel
Geforce 8800GTX 768MB
Seventeam 750W RMS PSU
Seagate Barracuda 640GB 7200rpm SATA HD
Maxtor 200GB 7200rpm SATA HD
LG SuperMulti DVD-RW SATA optical unit
3x LG1952h LCD screens through Matrox's Triple Head 2 Go
Saitek X52 Pro + Pro Flight Rudder Pedals
Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet
5.1 surround sound
running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

here are some pics: (sorry about the low quality... my mobile was the only camera i had at hand)

...

...

...

i haven't had time to install anything significant yet, so i can't say anything about it's performance... in any way, Vista is behaving well so far (after disabling all the annoying features  Roll Eyes )... but i did have to run across the net looking for 64bit drivers for my stuff... apparently they don't come in the CD's as much as i'd like... no biggie... worth the hassle for having 6GB RAM

another good thing is that the pc is running much more silent with the new processor... that's a really good thing... my GF used to complain about how my old rig sounded like a vaccuum cleaner  Roll Eyes... well, not anymore  Cheesy

a bad side, is that this mobo doesn't have any PS/2 ports, so i had to buy an adapter for the keyboard and mouse... the keybard worked under the adapter... the mouse didn't  Sad... so i'm using my laptop mouse for now... later i'll get a newer, better mouse, since my old one was getting, well, old...

also i've installed the latest Saitek drivers and software, and was delighted to find new features that open a whole lot of possibilities for the joystick, even using them on applications other than simming and gaming (hmm... Photoshop controller  Smiley )

anyways... that's it so far... first FSX experience will be tomorrow... i can't wait!!

Thanks to those who replied to my other posts, and helped me choose the best parts i could...

Cheers guys!!  Smiley

Very impressive set up, but it looks like you need to clean those cables up a bit Tongue

You should be happy with how it goes.

Yeah, i kinda changed my mind on the last minute there...  Roll Eyes
and i was glad to see that the rig scored a 5.9 (max) on the Vista user experience thingy... i know it probably doesn't mean anything, but it's cool to score max on something Grin

but if Vista proves too much of a performance hog, i'll go back to XP in a heartbeat

and, yeah, i know the cables are a mess... i should be a happy man when wireless cables get invented  Grin ...i just can't get 'em to stay organized... imagine that there are 12 different cables just for the sound system... add 8 more for the monitors... and you get the idea...

Cheers  Smiley

That is true, but I was talking more about the ones in the case. You need to clean them up and run them behind the mobo tray to improve airflow and cooling efficiency.

No probs Wink

It does take a long time. Mine took all day to organise and clean up. I needed to mod my case because it doesn't have a removable mobo tray so I had to dremel holes into it to run the cables around the back panel, it looks really spiffy now. I would take some pics but nothing is connected as I'm waiting for my mobo to return from repair.

hmm, now that you've mentioned it, i don't think my case has any space behind the mobo tray to run cables...

the best i could do then would be to shove the cables into the empty front bay slots, to get them out the way as much as possible... or maybe tie them together...

either way... i'll see what i can do  Wink

Cheers

Mine isn't too bad. I have the Antec 900 and fortunately that has a back panel tray with some pre-drilled holes into the mobo tray. So I was easily able to run many of the cables through the back and open up much free space. You should see the mess of cables right in front of the power supply though Grin I'd take a picture.... but my girlfriend has my camera..... oh boy Undecided

oh, btw, i installed photoshop this morning, and tried out my photoshop controller idea... worked even better than expected  Grin

now i can control brush size, hardness, flow, opacity and zoom without taking my hand of the throttle unit  Smiley

later on i'm gonna have the throttle hat switch toggle the most frequent tools, and then i'll never have to touch the keyboard again  Grin

real simmers work without letting go of their joysticks  Cool  Wink (or maybe mad people do that... but it's hard telling us apart  Grin )

Cheers
