Hi all.

I'm trying to exclude some trees from the ends of the runway at Negril aerodrome in Jamaica without much success.
I'm using ExcBuilder V2 which is linked to FSConnect and I am able to get the Long/Lat co-ordinates from FS9 using slew mode etc.
ExcBuilder is also linked to bglcomp.exe (c:\Program Files\FS2004SDK\BGLCOMP_SDK\bglcomp.exe). When prompted I save the generated file to the addon scenery/scenery folder in FS9 but it doesn't show up.
I gather I might need MSXML and have done a search on my drive and have 81 entries!
I think the ones I need are MSXML4, MSXML4a and MSXML4r which are in my main FS9 folder.

Any ideas appreciated.

Zaphod.

I should add that this is my first attempt at excluding anything! Roll Eyes

First thing to check is that you are grabbing the coordinates properly oriented; NW corner and SE corner. Improper orientation will cause an error in .bgl compilation, but ExcBuilder does not warn of the error.

To aviod n,s,e,w confusion......in the sim, <Alt Menu>Views>View Options...for Top Down View choose 'North Oriented'.

In ExcBuilder, uncheck the box next to 'Delete source after compilation' before clicking 'Save source and generate .bgl'. This will save the source .xml file along with the .bgl file. If you find the .xml but no .bgl then there was an error in .bgl compilation.

Thanks Dave.
My problem was that I completely missed the orientation element of the procedure. I've now removed some of the offending shrubbery and will do some more pruning tomorrow.

Many thanks.

I would like to get started in some of the 'land clearing' in FS, so that I can do a few construction projects..... but unfortunately I have not been able to really find the Excluder Program, and BGLcomp.exe program so that I can get out the 'bull dozers and hire contractors'.

(sorry I do Water and Waste Utility Construction for a living, so im sorta versed in it.... lol)

Could someone at least point me in a direction / website to which I might be able to find the programs???? Thanks.

Download ExcBuilder v2 here-http://www.scenery.org/design_utilities_b.htm-extract to a folder of your choice. Simple instructions in the readme... file.

Download the FS2004 Bglcomp SDK here-http://www.scenery.org/tutorials_fs2k4_SDK.htm-Run the installer. It will install files, including bglcomp.exe.

These are for FS2004 scenery design. Different downloads are required for FSX.

If you're project(s) include a new airport, or putting your missing town 'on the map', there are other tools that may be required for flattening, land class, and object placement. While there are small programs that can do each, the Sbuilder program can do it all.

If you have further questions, it is best to start your own topic.
