We are currently recruiting testers for the Eurofighter Typhoon and missions within VEAO on the LockOn Flaming Cliffs flight simulation platform.
Testing will include:
Eurofighter Typhoon model performance in LockOn
Pre-briefing elements via Flash web based media
Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground Mission testing in-game
Reporting of bugs and errors via a dedicated Web page form process
Suggestions and improvements to elements listed above
What is VEAO?
Virtual European Air Operations
Simulating air combat operations hypothetical theatres around the world.
BEA Hawk T1 Trainer (release Summer 2009)
Eurofighter Typhoon (release Summer 2009)
Harrier GR7
Tornado GR4
Gripen JAS39
Various air to ground and air to air missions with full mission planning carried out by the pilots.
Intel briefings will be provided pre-flight via a Flash interactive session on the web site, simulating the process from briefing to reaching the flight line.
Weapons allocation and mission planning (if not a pre-defined mission) will take place in game.
Various squadrons will be set up for the units operating the air frames in their designated countries (I.e. Typhoon for UK, Spain, Italy & Germany and Gripen for Sweden).
These can be representative of real life squadrons or virtual ones.
Each squadron will be headed up by a CO after applying to form a squadron.
He/she will be responsible for recruitment and day to day running of the squadron. VEAO will just be the launch platform for the squad and will host the web site and forums under the VEAO.EU site.
Air Combat Training School
The ACTS will simulate real world Fast Jet Training programmes from various air forces, predominantly the RAF.
The ACTS will have a designated squadron which will simulate either a real life training squadron, or a virtual one.
After Ground School, the Fighter Pilot Trainee (FPT) will move through the pipeline as indicated in the 2009 Training Pipeline document.
Two airframes will be used initially – Hawk T1A trainer and Eurofighter Typhoon.
More airframes will be used at a later date when the models have been converted for game/simulator use.
Once the FPT has graduated the Fast Jet stream, they have a choice of airframes to fly and squads to join (with prior approval of squad CO).
Instructor Pilots (IP) will train the Fighter Pilot Trainee (FPT) throughout the Fast Jet Stream and they will be recruited by VEAO operations team based on flight experience (real life and in-game), personality, ability to teach flying online and a willingness to be part of the ACTS.
Reference material will be produced for each stage of the stream and will be taken from various sources: video, books, Internet, real life experience.
Internet Forums will be the vehicle for recruitment and training reference material.
FPTs will be allowed access to restricted forums once they have graduated from the previous stage of the stream, and only after graduation.
All material will be copyrighted to VEAO with reference to original authors as not to breach copyright laws.
FPTs and IPs will be bound by a terms of use contract to ensure all material is not distributed to the public.
Simulated Exercises
Squads, FPTs and IPs will be invited to take part in Exercises run throughout the year.
These will simulate events such as Red Flag.

Internet based technology will be used for VEAO.
