No no no, I'm not pirating anything!  

I have a DVD of some my aerobatic flights with my instructor and I was trying to copy them to my computer as a single movie file for uploading to youtube or something like that, but I don't quite know how to do that.

Right now, there are six files in on this DVD, and I assume they all have to do with this one video:



I can't just go into the disc and click on a file to play it, and I can't copy the disc any way I know how.  It only works when I insert the disc and Windows Media Player autoplays it.

Does anyone know how to convert the movie to a .wmv file or something?

The only file there that you need to put it on you tube is: VTS_01_1.VOB

simplified process for windows XP (not sure if you use Vista):

go to my computer,right click your DVD drive, select explore, highlight the above file, and select copy.

When this is done, load it into Windows Movie Maker, edit as desired, and save as a .wmv file.

It is now ready for uploading to youtube.

I've done this quite a few times.

Also, look for VLC media player, it's free, and plays just about every kind of video format there is. It will also play stand alone VOB files on your harddrive without the need for having the DVD in the drive.
