Doug,

Before you posted your Photo of the Aircraft, (and the article), I was looking at the remains of the aircraft in the News Photo, and it looked remarkably like my FS 2002 "Tipsy Nipper" which I have just loaded up to do a comparison.

The mid section, and rear end, looks very similar to the Sparrow.

What a shame...poor old Chap...that was his pride and joy..I wonder what went wrong?... Cry...!

It's not my photo Paul although I do have some. The Sparrow was a nice-looking little aeroplane & much sleeker than the Nipper. If anything it resembled the Brugger Colibri mentioned in the article.

The strange thing is that it doesn't look badly damaged in the only photo I've seen.  I won't try to speculate but it apparently happened soon after take-off from base. I think the most likely cause would be engine failure or the airframe not being correctly assembled before flight.
